Stroke of a Pen:

Today's Tids Issue 5,199

Reasons to believe:

“Inflation is taxation without legislation.” --Milton Friedman

On Thursday a government agency, FDA, essentially put Juul Corporation out of business with the swoop of pen. But on Friday an Appeals court stopped the action cold. Which brings us to the bigger question: Has congress ceded too much of its power to the Executive Branch or just not taken enough action against Executive decisions at all levels of the governing divisions.

There is little in our newspaper that is currently relevant any more from day-old sports news to day-old local and national news. But I keep my subscription going for the comicsAaaaaaaarrrrrrgh. They were missing Saturday morning, Talking about ruining a sunny pleasantly cool summer weekend. Life just gets tougher.

People have a lot of phobias. Personally, I'm scared of prune juice.

The Question?

Several Public Opinion Polls in the past two months have asked Americans what they saw as the biggest problems in the country. What do you think they are?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Open Higher But Fall At Mid Morning, Continues Through Afternoon; Investors Looking Ahead To Several Key Economic Reports; Signs Of Optimism Returning To Street.

--Durable Goods Orders Climb; Demand In the Economy Still Strong.

--Russia Defaults On Debt For First Time Since 1918.

--Supreme Court Says First Amendment Protects Coach Who Prayed With Team.

--Opposing Sides On Abortion Expected To Battle Throughout Summer; Dems In Congress Urging Executive Orders To Offset SC Decision; Eliz Warren Brings Back Court Packing Idea.

--Kiev Shopping Center With 1,000 People Inside Hit By Russian Rockets; Putin's Machine Continues To Bombard Civilians.

--Russia Sets July 1 As Brittany Griner Trial Date.

--Colorado Beats Tampa Bay For Stanley Cup; Mississippi State Beats Oklahoma To Win Men's College Baseball World Series; Oklahoma Beats Texas To Win Women's Softball College World Series.

I just got word from the Tids Food Editor of anew gourmet item in Comfort Food arena – Cheetos Mac n’ Cheese. How great isthat!

A hitless game involving one pitcher is a “No Hotter”, period. All other hitless games are just games without hits.

Luring police into ambush is a dangerous new trend in the US. Are we destined become the next Mexico where police are routinely killed by drug monsters. Like yesterday 12 Mexican police officers were lured into an ambush and killed,

Today is National Bingo Day. If you can’t find Grandma, that's why.

Have you ever noticed in some concerto and symphonic movements it appears that the composer ran out of ideas and just ended it with no rhyme or reason. “Gotta get this new idea into movement 3 and two is becoming tedious. I’m outta here>”

Most people I know just hatei8t when their team is on National TV. The announcers just don’t get the local flavor and they talk way too much.

For today, I was preparing to write an exhaustive Tids expose’ about insurance fraud now running rampant in Florida, but I fell asleep in my research. Maybe tomorrow.

One of the great new aspects of modern internet technologies – it has made it much easier to commit massive defraud. Let’s hear it for the criminals.

The idea in this country is that congress limits presidents and the SC checks the laws made by congress for constitutionality. But lately the masses of entitlement citizenry who don’t get their way just want to change to ruels without regard for the foundations of the nation.

The Answer:

The consensus of the polls say that it’s a tie between “The Government, Poor leadership” and “Cost of living” and then Inflation.”, Political Extremism, Crime and Gun Violence, Immigration, Budget and Debt, Climate Change, Race, Foreign Conflicts, Healthcare/Covid, Economic Inequality, Education, Opioid Epidemic, Abortion and Unemployment.

Here's a good tune to start the week. Well, I like it.
