Give-away day.

Today's Tids Issue 5,252

Bye Bye Dollar Bill:

How do you say Happy 6 Months Ukraine War Anniversary Day. There is no way to applaud, put a smile on the face of continuous killing except maybe by continuing to support the heroic efforts of Ukrainians with the high hopes that they can stop it.

BTW, in a brand-new poll 53% of Americans say they back supporting Ukraine with weapons and Missiles. That Isn’t a huge majority.

Today is National Strange Music Day. Or, precisely, New Millenium Pop Music Day.

Celebrity quiz games, the new rage on TV, are only interesting to people who don’t like quiz games.

Movie stars used to be a lot different. I just saw a list of some of the greatest of all time from Henry Fonda to Jimmy Stewart to Walter Matthau; Art Carney, Paul Newman...and yes, Jonathon Winters. They were all ex-military officers and enlisted men who played serious in the thick of key battles of the war, from fighter or bomber pilot to ship and plane tail gunner to significant OSS sneaky stuff. And much more. Many were wounded and many received medals. A little different to today’s Hollywood, it appears.

Why is a moon rock tastier than an Earth rock? A. It’s a little meteor.

The Question:

Here is a thought process Question sent in by a thoughtful reader: “Which do you think is more difficult to achieve in MLB; a 56-game hitting streak or hitting .400 for a season average? (It’s from a college class on Critical Thinking.)

The Headlines:

Today is also National Waffle Day. How come heir are so many days for politicians?

The volatility of the daily markets may be in part due to soemthing we never had before -- The singular power of a handful of stocks known as

Why didn't the sun go to college? A: Because it already had a million degrees!

Amish furniture makers make nice entertainment centers and TV stands. How would they know in a culture that avoids modern technology?

Earth to Other planets: “You guys have no life”.

RI loves ot celebrate visiting Federal government officials, I think many RI’ers would like the state to be an agency of federal government. This week they were fawning over the Secretary of Education Dr. Miquel Cardoan visiting. Yes him, the head of an agency that the USA would be better without.

Think of all the kids who worked hard to earn there way through college or families who scrimped and saved to pay it all.

A nice song is called Pinehurst by Joanie Madden. It feels like a slow romantic walk through the hills of Ireland or Scotland.

That New York election that many thought could be a bellwether went to Dem Pat Ryan who it appears campaigned mainly on Abortion. Because of his win he retained a Dem seat in Jeopardy. But analyst are now wondering if indeed abortion will determine whether or not the Dems retain Congress. I personally hope there are more issues than just one when deciding on a candidate.

The Government is responsible for the mark-up of a College education costs and the resultant huge debts. When oyu feed US dollars into the college community to aid in tuition costs the colleges just markup the cost of entry more. Gov support of products and procedures also have lot to do with the high cost of healthcare. When somebody else is paying, the consumer doesn’t pay attention to the cost. Piles of money beget higher prices, and inflation.

College economics departments certain know this, but they would rather have the money.

The Answer:

Of course, that Q plays off the last 400 Hitter Ted Williams and the big streak by rival Joe D. I personally pick the 400 which could be be most likely broken. There's a lot of luck involved in 56 games of hits. The student in a class that considered this gave the edge to 400 sill being approachable. In today's environment, a streak hitter could be r traded at any moment, if the money was right..

What did the beach say when the tide came in? ... Long time no sea.

I promised to ne funny today. I think I failed.
