Reevaluation, reevaluation.

Today's Tids Issue 5,253

Peanuts or Politics:

“Peanuts” the comic makes me smile a little each morning

Buying votes is probably the most inflationary action of all. Generally, it involves the government pushing money into the economy and asking for less and less in return to earn it.

What do you get when you drop a piano down a mineshaft? A-flat minor.

Peter Duchin, society's piano man, says his most memorable event was being hired to play at a five-course dinner for two celebrating their anniversary. He said being part of something so beautiful and entirely loving is just stays with you as special.

The Question:

In post WWII, six very intelligent best friends called “The Wise Men” brought order to the potential for chaos following WWII. Who were they?

The Headlines:

--Markets Poised to Open Lower: All Eyes On Jackson Hole Awaiting Powell;

--Russia Attacks Train Station, Homes In Chaplyn Ukraine Killing 25 Folks.

--Judge Blacks Idaho’s Abortion Ban After DoJ Lawsuit.

--After Assassination Of Key Putin Advisor’s Daughter, Other Putin Allies Having Second Thoughts About Supporting War.

--iPhone 14 To Launch September 7.

You may have read that life expectancy averages dropped a bit since the pandemic. In RI it is now 78.2 and nationally it is 77.0. In RI death is 5.4 years later for women. I don’t think women are really seeking total equality.

Are we entering an era of the Fed suing citizens because they don’t like the way they vote? And some wonder why so many people think America is on the wrong path.

Occasionally, living above the life expectancy line makes you think a bit.

What is Bethoven doing now? Decomposing!

Trump just called for the ouster of McConnell. He is beginning to sound like a democrat. I love McConnell.

Tom Nichols, a pretty savvy writer says, “...the truth, however, is that most people don’t go to college, and the majority of those who do go manage to get out without life-destroying debt. Fewer than four in ten Americans over 25 have a four-year college degree. Only 13 percent have federal student debt, and the average undergraduate leaves college with an obligation about the size of a moderate car loan. He notes that big debt rises paying for post graduate degrees. Regardless of reality, basically Joe B. is trying to buy favor with the younger crowd who generally in the main are democrats and often liberal, big government aficionados

Other than weather, this is the only time there isn’t much news except when Joe B comes back to from vacation to irritate my senses.

Another Pandemic Phenom, Peloton, just reported a $1.2 Billion loss. Yesterday they also reported they see a decline of revenue going forward. Reevaluation of the tech phenoms is the name of the game.

Parents want to ban big band performances on TV? Too much sax and violins.

The big gamble is alienation of all those who worked their way through college to get out with less debt and of course the parents who sacrificed for several years to make it appen for tier childrenh

Good candidates who speak softly with wisdom and insightful honesty scare the living daylights out of the incumbent government lifers and their supporters in congress or exec branch. That’s when the toxins begin to flow.

The California legislature is about to pass the death knell law for gas cars. In just 12 years gas car sales will be illegal in California. So much or freedom of choice. I thought government banning was the crux of the abortion commotion.

A very popular song in the year I was born was “The Flat Foot Floogie”. No wonder the Tids feel a little odd at times.

“Peanuts” is another great example of how good things never get tired.

The Answer:

I doubt if many of you answered this, but I thought it was an interesting question about what happens behind the scenes in the world struggle It is captured in a book by Walter Isaacson “The wise Men”, who are Averell Harriman (The leader) Dean Acheson, George Kennon, Robert Lovett, Johm McCloy and Charles Bohlen. These were the guys beneath the spotlight who forged the Marshall Plan with George, the Truman Doctrine and generally brought order to the post war chaos, and creating American World Dominance.

After listening to the tune below you may wish you didn’t read this far.

Have a great and loving Thursday.

Slim and Slam were one hit wonders back in 1937 This recording was made a year later) after FFF Became a hit.
