Giving is good.

Today's Tids Issue 5,248

Understanding is the essence:

A huge geomagnetic storm arising from giant sun flare-ups is due to arrive here today. I hope it doesn’t ruin my golf game.

“Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.” --MLK Jr.

Maybe I should worry about how a Geomagnetic storm could affect somebody else.

Today is National Bad Poetry Day. I live for another day.

I must confess

Tids can be a mess

And it’s always best

When I write less.

The Question:

I like watching the competitions on Food Network. And there are certainly a lot of Celebrity chefs with popular programs, but who are considered the top ten most influential TV chefs of all times?

The Headlines:

--Markets Open Higher, Slide, Rebound; Markets Trying To Figure Out Retail.

-- Judge Orders Justice Dept. To Redact Affidavit Used To Search Trump’s Home In Advance of Possible Unsealing/

--Trump Organization CFO Weisselberg Pleads Guilty To Fifteen Charges Of Felony Tax Fraud; Gets Five Month; To Testify in Trump Org Trials.

--Alleged Massage Table Predator Watson And NFL Agree To 11 Game Suspension.

“Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.” --Oscar Wilde

In 1976, Dick Cheney said: “"Principle is OK up to a certain point, but principle doesn't do any good if you lose." Maybe daughter Liz forgot she was in politics

I think we tend to look at at the stock markets with eyes that have only seen the dire effects of past recessions. He ponderous slow-moving markets old. Before remarkable technology that can alter key elements in a nanosecond. There doesn’t seem to be anything seriously technical, immorally or illegally wrong with today's marketplace. That’s why I’m hopeful.

Trump backed candidates have won several key primaries, but there is a strong united opinion that his candidates may not be able to beat the Dems where needed, especially in the Seanat5e. That's called winning the battles but losing the war.

A smart person knows what to say. A wise person knows whether or not to say it.

Maybe the big geomagnetic storm will plug the hole in the ozone layer and we’ll have to find something new to argue about.

I'm thinking that the HBO series “Industry” on is going to become a favorite now that it is getting a little more recognition starting its second year. It is tense. If may be one of those nice sleepers. Lord knows we need some more good stuff and this British drama about the pressures of big financial companies and smart aggressive young whizzbangs could be a winner

I love a good birthday which tends to ease my conscience when diving into ice cream and cake.

The Answer:

Number 1 kind of got it started it all and is a no brainer – Julia Child. The next nine are Emeril Lagasse, Martha Stewart, Guy Fieri, Gordon Ramsey, James Beard, Mario Batali, Rachel Ray, Jacques Pepin and at #10 Ina Garten.

Probably the most famous aphorism is, ”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

But here’s a pretty good one to wrap up today:

“Complaining about a problem without offering a solution is called whining.” -- Teddy Roosevelt
