Tomorrow begins another day.

Today's Tids Issue 5,327

It's the old rolling stone thing:

Well, we made it. Oh, the laughs we had and the food we ate; the pun family punsters; the endless platters of meat and veggies and rice. And of cookies of very shape and blend of sweet ingredients. And now we enter the week of memories of a year gone by. Many were unforgettable experiences and achievements. And sadly, some were of wonderful people who left this world, or others fighting bravely against unwanted foes. And then there were moments, special moments, that may never be seen again. And of course, never forgotten. All in all it was a very good year. But then most years are very, very good, regardless of momentary downturns. Especially if you turn off the news.

Onward! Or as Walt Disney once said. “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

Good Newsthe stock market isn’t down.

The Question:

Who was the all-time winningest Woman Golfer?

The Headlines:

--Stock Markets Closed; Christmas Retail Sales 7.6% Ahead of Last Year.

--China Sends 71 War Planes and 8 War Ships into Taiwan Security; China says it is a Protest Against Taiwan Items in USA Military Budget.

--Over 21 Dead in Western NY Due to Cold and Fierce Winter Storm.

--Heavy Snow in Japan Kills Dozens; Many More Injured.

--Ukraine Drone Attack on Russia Bomber Base Kills Three.

--No South Korea Says 5 NK Drones Reaches Edge of Seoul; SK Scrambles Jets.

Sometimes it’s just a good idea to let your hair go grey and put all the energy into something really positive. Not such a hot idea for hair stylists, though.

We are finishing the year when many of us became addicted to Wordle! Help, I'm sinking. Or was that finking or thinking, or blinking. Oh well. I'll take a Zero. It’s good to feel humble every once in a while.

My favorite gift was giant sized kit of Wellies band aids. They may be a little colorful and childish for the average male animal, but they stick really well and absorb better than any other. A band aide cache is a necessity and as important as a good wedge for any golfer prone to hitting deep into woods of brambles.

Or as Victor Kiam said, “Even if you fall on your face, you are still moving froward.”

What short lived trend will Americans become addicted too this year. RHere will be something, that is for sure. I wouldn’t even hazard a guess because the fact of it will be stranger than any fiction I can make up.

“The biggest challenge for me has been in coping with my perfectionism. I have a stiflingly hard time moving forward in a project if it's not 'just right' all along the way. The trap I so easily fall into is rewriting and rewriting the same scenes over and over to make them perfect, instead of continuing on into the wild unknown of the story.” --Laini Taylor

15 bowl games have been played. And unless you are an alum or maybe a gambler, you probably didn’t miss anything. Starting today there are 26 more to go with the National Championship scheduled for Jan 9. The National Champ semifinals – Mich-TCU and Ga-OSU -- are on December 31. There are no games on the traditional Jan 1 day of bleary-eyed resting. There are a handful of interesting games to come like ND-SC, Tenn-Clemson, Okla St-Fla St, Tex-Wash, Alabam-KState, Utah-Penn State. I guess moving forward in NCAA land is about not having a game on New Year's day.

The Answer:

Number one all-time is Kathy Whitworth, who died yesterday at 83. Everybody knows Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. But how many people have Kathy on the tip of their tongue. Kathy had 88 LPGA wins. Next was Micky Wright with 82 and the the wonderful Annika Sorenstam with 72. The rest of the top ten are Louise Suggs, Patty Berg, Betsy Rawls, Nancy Lopez, JoAnne Carner, Sandra Hayne and a tie at #10 between the great “Babe” -- Didrickson Zaharias and Karrie Webb. Interestingly, all of the eleven above are in the HoF and all of the next 15 are in the HoF except one who is 19 in the list – Jane Blalock. Hmm. Jane is often introduced as a HoF member because she was quite dominant for a while in the 70’s. But accusations of "Taking liberties' swirl around her. And her contemporary players petitioned to suspend her and then she sued getting a injunction and major changes ot the LPGA. She’s still fighting it, but still on the outside.

Well, today on the first day of the last week you have probably noticed I'm talking about moving on. Looking up no matter how dire the struggle. I never make New Year's resolutions because my whole life is a resolution to do the best I can. And certainly, one aspect of that is always moving.

There are 364 days till Christmas and people already have their Christmas lights up. You can’t keep Americans down. Amazing.

(Thanks to a reader who keeps me apprised of human ingenuity.)
