And, let there be light

Today's Tids Issue #5381

Life's balance:

I hear a gentle Gaelic tune.

Yet I don’t remember its name

It’s of green Irish hills

And crested, crashing waves

On jagged rocks below.

It's about standing quietly,

Feeling breezes blowing,

Aromatic flowers growing.

And being touched,

By Ireland’s magic we know.

Sorry, other identities, but tomorrow is the Saint Patricks' Day parade here and a little Irish rhythmic blarney is just the right thing to do. Besides, it’s a pleasant haunting song. Someday I'll remember it and send it to you to brighten your day.

Is it ignorance or apathy that is destroying the world today? Well, I don’t know, and I don’t care.

Everything that exists probably is balanced off by something else. So any drastic change is always in danger of creating collateral damage. For instance, the collateral damage from a singular drive to reduce inflation is often a recession. And the collateral damage from wild government spending is often inflation. Go figure. Engineers and scientists know that if you take a little from here something bad could happen over there. So, balance is always the objective. Too bad politicians aren't engineers or scientists.

Don’t forget the clocks springing ahead on Sunday night! But then, the cyberworld does most of that for us now.

The Question:

Name what could be considered the top, most favorite popular Irish songs.

The Headlines:

Markets Drop Again Early, but Stumble Back Towards Near Even in Late Morning. A surprisingly Strong Labor Market adds 311K Jobs Versus 225K expected; Unemployment Numbers Rise to 3.7%; Leisure and Hospitality Industries Big Jobs Winners.

--Jay Powell Facing More than Inflation Woes; Shares Halted as Silicon Valley bank Wobbles and Silvergate Crypto Bank Shuts Down.

--Australia to Buy Subs from US to Beef Up Defenses Against Possible China Actions.

-- Adderall Shortages Becoming Big Problem for Those With ADHD.

--NY Prosecutor Invites Trump to Testify at Stormy Daniels Case Grand Jury; Hinting at Criminal Indictment; Kelley Ann Conway Makes Appearance at DA Yesterday.

--BMW Ramping Up to Produce More Electric Mini's.

--Hamburg Germany Gunman Kills 6, Wounds More at Jehovis Witness Meeting.

Based on my cursory reading of the Joe B Budget, it appears mainly to be a political parry at best.

I hate 9am funerals. I’m really not a mourning person.

Here’s why it is confusing to live in these more complex times. This morning I got an email from Google Ad Sense saying, “Your sub-domain blocks will be promoted to domain level in 3 days.” What in hell are they talking about!

A headline this morning read, “Seven people including an unborn baby killed in Jehovis Witness Meeting attack”. How about that, somebody is publicly granting an unborn baby people status.

The Ya, Ya, Ya (Well j you know who I mean...signed a huge contract with home run hitting Aaron Judge. It turns out that fans really like home runs as ticket sales increased $100 Million in one year!

Personally, I like a sharp line drive to right field and the strong-armed fielder throwing out a runner at the plate.

What do you get when you mix alcohol and literature? Tequila mockingbird.

I try to limit my anger in Friday's Tids so it doesn’t simmer over the weekend. Who needs it. There are too many angry people in this world anyhow. Or maybe all of this anger we think we see daily is just anecdotal and media uses it for ratings increased viewership. Yeah, that’s it. Maybe most human beings are kind to each other, and it is only the nasty ones that get the publicity.

There’s a real good chance around here that tomorrow will be one ugly day for our Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The bartenders will like that.

The Answer:

Ok, number one is Fields of Athenry and that is followed by Danny Boy, Molly Malone, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, The Rose of Tralee, Galway Bay, My Wild Irish Rose, Mother MaChree and Macushla, which means “Darling”. And magically, they always sound better after a couple of pints.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
