Looking forward.

Today's Tids Issue 5,375

What's the hitch:

So, now we are in Women’s Month. I’ve been celebrating women all my life.

By the way, try to tell an Irishman that this isn’t Irish month.

Acupuncture is a jab well done.

The weeks just blaze by. Think of how fast they would go if I was actually busy.

Money is like an insurance policy for people who don’t fully understand what they are buying. “Hey, I bought the best!” Really?

The Question:

Who do you think are on a list of “The Most Trustworthy Celebrities”?

The Headlines:

--Dow Strong, Nas and S&P Not So Much; Under Assault, Sales Force Delivers Monster Quarterly Results and Aggressive Guidance; Activists Recede.

--US Jobless Claims Edge Lower.

--Blinken and Lavrov Meet for First Time Since Ukraine War.

--Egyptian Antiquities Officials Confirm Existence of Huge Hidden Corridor in Great Pyramid of Giza; Could Lead to New Discoveries.

--Space X Launches Rocket; Two Nasa Astronauts and Russian Cosmonaut Compatible Together.

--Bruins Sign Pasternak to $90 Million Extension; It Is Biggest Deal in Bruins History.

--Another Policeman Killed Chasing Criminal; This Time, Shot in Chicago

We are all biased to some extent. But, if you want to get across an important point, bias can easily get in the way of clarity and understanding. Even in the face of indisputable facts.

I got canned from my first job working in an orange juice factory, because I couldn't concentrate.

Global CO2 emissions rose to a record high in 2022. Part of it may have been due to Russians cutting gas supplies to EU and the need to refire coal plants. It’s the old Newton action and reaction theory all over again. Idealism is nice, but it doesn’t work when eating and staying alive are higher priorities.

When tempted to fight fire with fire, always remember… The fire department usually uses water."

The Reverend Bob Richards just died at 97. He was a genuine USA sports hero in the late forties and early fifties. He certainly was to me and my friends. In case you forgot he actually set all of the Pole Vault records of the time with the astounding heights of fifteen feet. His records using an aluminum pole were smashed when they went to the fiberglass poles, But he was the guy who broke barriers.

(Many will argue that Dutchman Cornelius Warmerdam was the greatest of the era setting his records with a Bamboo pole. He was a giant in the sport and Richard’s true nemesis.)

This brings up the old argument, are today's athletes more coordinated, better and stronger or their equipment, training and diet better?

It looks like ESG is on the way out. But there are certainly strings attached for companies who take advantage of $58 Billion now set aside to build Chip factories. Excess profits (According to a preset returns formula) will go to the Government. Companies receiving more than $150 will have to submit plans for affordable, comprehensive childcare. Funds may not be used for stock buybacks. They cannot expand operations into certain specified countries and cannot enter into joint research with foreign entities. So, what’s new. Taking government money comes with obligations. Always has. Always will. Do it yourself and you are free.

This here is my step ladder. I never knew my real ladder.

What is bothering me around here is that the local media are already talking about bar activities for Saint Patrick's Day, and it is still over two weeks away. This could be the most raucus, uncontrolled Saint Patrick Day drink fest of all times. and we have had some doozies. And they weren’t pretty.

My big project this week was driving to my barber 3 times and finding it was closed each time. So, that gives me something to do today.

I find that most things taste good to me if they come with chicken flavored rice.

The Answer:

Well, according to the regular people who answered this survey, Keanu Reeves is the most trustworthy Celeb. Next is Betty White (She definitely won’t breathe a word of a secret) and then Morgan Freeman, Robin Williams (Safe there too), Hugh Jackman, Tom Hanks, Dolly Parton, James Earle Jones, Denzel Washington and #10 Patrick Stewart. Continuing on we have Julie Andrews, Michael J. Fox, Alan Rickman, Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Maggie Smith, Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins, Princess Diana, Chris Hemsworth, Helen Mirren, Audrey Hepburn, Danny Di Vito, Liam Neeson and at #25, Steve Martin, Gary Sinise is next. Willie Nelson #50, James MacAvoy is 100 and Brad Pitt is 150.

I was addicted to the hokey pokey… but thankfully, I turned myself around.

I guess we are going to learn a lot about women this month. I was trying to find a good wholesome joke about men trying to understand women as big finale to this Tids. But I’ve had enough trouble for today!
