Nothing tops a plain pizza.

Today's Tids Issue 5,394

Thinking of people:

You know, my little problem each morning is trying to figure out what to put in this mess. But there are people who each day wake up to face obstacles often beyond imagination. And my heart just goes out to everyone, and I feel every tear.

Mobs are burning Paris because the Government wants ot raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. What have our societies become? Besides, at 64 there is still plenty of time for Amore’.

Syrian Iran-Linked groups apparently killed a US contractor in a Drone strike. We bombed the hell out of them yesterday. Now, that's a problem.

Probably the best good eating value still left in America is a Rotisserie chicken from a supermarket or super discounter like Costco or BJs.

As you get older, taking something with a grain of salt can be bad for your health.

The Question:

What country is closest to the largest concentration of Russia nuclear weapons? Bonus: What are the five biggest bank failures in History?

UConn looked like ajuggernaut last night dismantling a pretty good Arkansas team. The right side of my brackets makes me appear genius-like. But the left side comes with a dunce cap for sure. (Must be my conservative leanings) I still am on track to have 3 of my final four – Alabama, UConn, Houston and Texas. In case you missed it, Florida Atlantic dismissed Tennessee and Gonzaga took down UCLA, an expert favorite. BTW, the media what ot classify FAU the Cinderella team but the players will have nothing of it. They say, we belong here. We’re good.

Every Friday like clockwork I get emails from Papa Ginos Pizza and D'Angelo's sandwich. And people keep saying that AI is going to be good for me.

Yesterday I was walking through a once dynamic shopping center now somewhat forbidding and deteriorating despite one pretty successful store. I see this everywhere, in rural areas that once welcomed “Progress” and now see a hulking mass of crumbling stucco and steel; in massive center city malls that tore out some classic older buildings, but in many cases have become refuges hanging out teens. Ironically it was the Shopping centers in green fields that brought blight to small town downtown. The good news is that people are seeing the beauty of downtowns’ past and are bringing them back for a second life. But there is little beauty the remains of these once giant shopping centers. Beware of what you vote for.

I struggled with roman numerals until I got to 159 and then it just CLIX.

I am pretty much up to date with The Voice 2023. I won’t be belaboring you with my analysis for a while but I have seen some really good singers. If you are a fan you know that Blake is in his last year and he a has been pretty humorous about it. The Judge newcomers, rapper Chance and Irish singer are really quite good. So. Stay tuned.

So, did you hear about the actor who was offered a role to play a husband of 30 years. He declined. He as hoping for a speaking part. Whoops, I’m in trouble.

When you are a waffling prez always trying to play politics with one group or another instead of rising above the crowd as statesman and courageous thoughtful leader, you can expect up and down poll numbers. Last week Biden was sailing and this week in the New AP NORC poll he hit his lowest approval ratings yet. I think I will call him Willow from now on.

When your modus operandi is always putting out fires, you are bound be singed.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granhom told Congress yesterday that it will take years to rebuild Strategic Petroleum Reserves. That’s called collateral damage from stupid political games. It is the result of making irrational energy decisions to mainly appease voting blocs rather than considered planning that balances the present with the future. Even sadder is that there are many how don’t want rebuild anything that has the word petroleum in it.

Ford had a bad day yesterday when it projected a $3 Billon loss mainly due to a huge EV Startup expense. The $5 Billion investment in the Blue Oval Plant will eventually result in 6,000 new jobs and 500,000 Ford 150 EV’s a year. How much of the higher cost of today's gas cars and pickups are funding that project?

Frankly, it is nice that companies are back to taking a longer-term outlook and investing in their research and future production capability. It's too bad they get penalized by Wall Street for trying to assure a profitable future.

Talk is cheap until you hire a lawyer.

The Answer:

Sarah always said she could see Russia from her office. But citizens Norway sit across a narrow Barents Sea looking at Murmansk, the Russian port loaded with nuclear ready naval vessels -- 34 subs and 32 surface ships. Bonus: The biggest was Washington Mutual in 2008, and the next two just happened – Silicon Valley and Signature. The rest are Continental Illinois, First Republic of Dallas, Indy Mac, American Savings and Loan, Colonial Bank, Bank of New England and at #10, Gibraltar Savings and Loan. So much for the Rock. No wonder the nerves are frayed on Wall Street. SVB and Signature are really big.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
