Is anything weird anymore?

Today's Tids issue 5,363

In the grand scheme of things:

It's nice to have Tidsters to schmooze

When yet again the Patriots lose.

Do you know what is kind of cool – Meeting people you haven’t seen in years and finding that the years haven’t eclipsed the friendship.

So here we go again with the Speaker vote. It is more than a rumor that Dem House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies is on the verge of tossing his hat in the ring for speaker of a Repub “controlled” House. How weird is that? How embarrassing would that be to the in-fighting Repubs.

Does CCP backed Iran look at Israel like CCP looks at Taiwan? That is the gnawing question about what seems like a localized, yet horrific, inhuman and pure evil border fight.

The Question:

What is the estimated life of our Sun? How long has the earth been living around the sun?

The Headlines:

--WS Eyes Focused on Middle East Crisis, But Stocks Could Go Higher; Key Earnings Reports This Week Include Tesla and Netflix.

--Bill Ford Calls for Deal to end Walkouts.

--Judge in Election Meddling Trial Issues Partial Gag Order to Trump after he Calls Prosecutors, “A Team of Thugs” and a Witness, “A Gutless Pig”.

--Repubs to Call for Tuesday Floor Vote on Jordan, Even Though Votes Seem way off Target.

--Netanyahu and Putin to Speak.

Do you realize that bicycle enthusiasts are changing urban streetscapes for the enjoyment of a handful of people compared to thousands how have to get somewhere without fear of hitting an errant cyclist. I always loved riding my bike hither and yon, so I appreciate the thrills and the exercise. But I was just one compared to tens of thousands who need to drive somewhere every day, now on more narrow roads. Cyclists are the squeakiest wheels of today.

I don’t do IQ tests becaue I don’t wnatotknow how far behind I am.

Well, there goes the old Thighmaster.

Highly respected Jamie Dimon says. “This is the most dangerous time the world has seed in Decades.” Among his concerns other than world conflicts and China’s overarching effect on the world economy he is very worried still about our huge national debt, ugly inflation and the prospects that in November we will be having the budget limits fight again, and that it could go badly.

There is now signs to me that the current admin, some in congress and national unions don't understand the concept of killer inflation at all. And how reactions feed its growth. That we are in a battle to reduce not add to the costs that make it rise faster.

Astronomers estimate that there are probably 400 million to 4 billion earth type planets out there. Yeah, we’re pretty small. Since life is made up of relatively common and abundant elements like Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Carbon and Oxygen, the prospect of life out there somewhere is not a giant leap of faith.

The cost basis for Netflix production just went up a bit with the settlement of the writer's strike. And it will go higher when the actors agree with the studios. How much are consumers willing to pay for some pretty average fare lately.

I hate to tell you how many Netflix programs we have in the “Continue Watching” category, programs that were dismissed after 10 or twenty minutes.

Among other things about my inept Spell-Check is that it has no clue about poetic license.

I graduated from High School in 1955. Yes, I made it somehow, but the year was good. I made some football playing headlines and was looking forward to the big next step forward. Yes, I wasn't underwater, but the first Nuclear Sub Nautilus was. That was quite the achievement. So was finally the Salk Vaccine being declared safe. On the other side of the achievement coin, the Micky Mouse Club first aired on TV. So did Lassie. Disney Land opened in LA, the Saint Lawrence Seaway opened the Midwest to the Atlantic and the first Guiness Book of Records was Published. Ike made people Happy. Rosa Parks was arrested and set a new tone in the south. The $64 Thousand Dollar Question was the unheard of big money TV program. The USA officially stepped foot in Viet Nam for the first time. Oops. Rock and Roll was going mainstream, but in college at the end of the year I learned that Dixieland was King. How can you forget Princeton's Tigertown Five. The Minimum wage was $1.00/Hour. and a Ladies swimsuit was $12.95. Reversable rian proof sports jackets were popular with men! Say what ? Ray Krok starts McDonald's, and the great James Dean was killed in an auto accident. My favorite TV program at the time was Alfred Hitchcock Presents. My favorite movie was Calamity Jane with Doris Day. The Top movies were Oklahoma, The Seven Year Itch, To Catch a Thief sand Jame Dean, Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo in Rebel Without a Cause. Top songs were Unchained Melody, Ain’t that a Shame, Yellow Rose of Texas, The Ballad of Davy Crocket, and “Only You (And you alone)” And I became a college kid and began doing stupid college kid tricks.

People scream about having nuke plants in their back yards, but US Navy sailors sleep with them under the sea.

I'm expecting to pick up some interesting stuff about the vast universe this morning, So, I'll be back to finish this later.

I should be playing golf right now.

Cynic, Department:

I can see 2024 campaign videos showing US congress people and presidential aspirants being whisked into bomb shelters in Israel. Why else would they be going there.

I was impressed with the thousands of Israel Reservists here living good live in America who are going back to fight for their Homeland.

The Answer:

Th sun has an expected life of 10-11 Billion years. The earth has been around for 4.5 billion years. So, the sun dying one moning is not an issue.

I'm feeling ethereal this afternoon. Maybe it's because of the dreamlike experience of seeing the Patriots forgetting how to play football. Is there anybody out there who can play?
