Nike will pay for it.

Today's Tids Issue 5,468

Stow the Sequins:

Well, how about that, in less than one-week the Democrats held their two biggest fundraisers of the year, Sotu and the Oscars.

The balanced S&P 500 is showing a lot of strength, and the latest thinking is that it will carry the day as the great seven begins to lag following an overly exuberant growth spurt. At least until the next piece of energizing news. A solid S&P basis is probably a better way for the markets to grow for most average investors.

It doesn’t always follow that restaurants with good water views have good food too.

One of the great photos celebrating the end of WWII was of a sailor kissing a woman in Time’s Square. It was on the cover of Life magazine, and it made Americans happy. Now I read where an inconsequential government official tried to ban it from Veteran health facilities until cooler heads prevailed: “Secretary Denis McDonough acted hours after a copy of a memo from a VA assistant undersecretary requesting the photo’s removal from all VA health facilities was shared on social media. The memo had said the photo 'depicts a non-consensual act' and is inconsistent with the department's sexual harassment policy. McDonough on Tuesday tweeted out a copy of the image, which appeared in Life magazine, adding, 'Let me be clear: This image is not banned from VA facilities — and we will keep it in VA facilities.”

That's just another example of that old pendulum swinging too far thing all over again until rational heads step in.

The Question:

Love or dislike Meryl Streep, she is considered at the top of the Female glitterati heap. Wha actresses are considered by American movie goers as the next Meryl Streep.

The Headlines:

--After Jan Deep drop in Retail Sales WS Expecting Solid Improvement in Tomorrow’s Retail Report for Feb; Markets Continue to Play the Inflation/Rates Game.

--Haiti Lawless Collapsing Country.

--Oppenheimer Takes all teh big Prizes Before the Adoring Glitterati.

--Ramadan Begins the World Over from Gaza to Times Square.

--NFL Free Agency Lehal Tampering Begins Today; Signings Occur Become Official Starting Wednesday; Russell Wilson Expected to Sign with Pittsburgh.

The Biden wallet is open and spending money, $420 Billion in Infrastructure/Inflation reduction dough mainly to states where he is least popular. A large chunk is going to four states where he lost to DT in 2020 by more than 10% -- Alaska, Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. The second largest distribution is the18 other states won by Trump. Politics is the biggest board game of them all. And the Money isn’t printed by Milton Bradley.

Happy to see Mac Jones, former QB of the Pats, get a new shot in Jacksonville, He is living proof of how internet yahoos can crush you. And the lack of good surrounding players too.

Did you ever think that Hollywood hypocrites would ever be maniacally cheering the US development of the A Bomb?

By the way, how does spending by hundreds of billions of federal dollars reduce inflation anyhow?

We don't need fashion designers in baseball. The old uniforms were fine and meant something fans. Remember fans.

Hey, Cailin Clark is amazing, and I would dive into my cobweb filled wallet and find money to pay for a ticket to see her play. But it's about the apples and oranges thing and she beating Pete Maravich's record. There are two key elements to consider in the comparison: Pete didn't have the 3-Point shot and Pete's record she passed took just 83 games compared to her 130 games to get there She is fun to watch and she could play on my team any day, but let's be considerate of all the numbers and the accomplishments of the first record setters.

Don’t you think that Kamala seemed overly giddy over JB's strong Sotu appearance. Maybe she sees that as the first step to keeping her first in line to be the first female president. You know. Just in case.

How many times do the TV cameras show people bare-chested at super cold NFL and college football games. Maybe it isn't such a good idea after all. Maybe the cameras of the moment don’t tell the whole story. Since the super freezing Kansas City Wild Card game, 12 people have had digits amputated due to frostbite, and medical authorities say they expect more in the next 4 weeks.

How awful was Trump yesterday demeaning Biden for his stuttering woes of his youthful past. Will big orange ever grow up? Making America great again to me means getting civilized.

BTW Caitlin Clark is 41st among college athletes making big bucks though NIL deals. I've seen several numbers for her “annual” college income from a minimum of $800K to $3.5 Million. And you wonder why your old alma mater is having trouble finding good athletes by promising a better education.

Here's the funny thing about the Cailtin situation – the WNBA is concerned she will stay in college where she can make more money than they can pay.

Aside from the SOTU, is there anything more tedious than Oscar night?

The Answer:

Number One is Emma Stone. Next is Saoirse Ronan followed by Emily Blunt, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Scarlet Johansson and at #10, Kiera Knightly. Continuing on we have Emma Watson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Amanda Seyfried and Elizabeth Olsen rounding out the top 15.

But the Great Seven are still priced ok and there is not yet a bubble.

I was told I should buy the dip. So, I bought Horseradish/Cheddar.

Hmm. That’s a little like the Stock market. You think you're having a c good Tids day and then it all ends badly with a bad joke.
