Both sides bow.

Today's Tids Issue 5,165

Defactionalization:

Today is, “National Eat What You Want Day”. I couldn’t be happier.

You know you're getting old when you go to an antique auction and three people bid on you.

The extremes get all the ink and talk the loudest, but I sense more and more people need an inspiring comfortable president who can make both sides comfortable. Did you see that word, both. A disfactional country is always a little stronger. At least that's my opinion. I made up the word “Disfactional” just so we could start getting out of the rut of predictable tedious rhetoric. I think we need a Prez with a good, genuine sense of humor, sans one party vitriol. You know, like my acidic sarcasm can be. Nobody wants to give up their immovable positions. These extreme sides tend to use the old ploy saying moderates have no guts, but maybe it takes a lot of guts ot to make decisions against the extremes, to slap the angry around a bit. Going along with intimidators is the easy way. So, that's my Wednesday morning musings. Maybe harmony is just mental meanderings of an antique who still misses automats.

The first Persian restaurant in RI just opened in Pawtucket. They say it is quite the romantic adventure, with good authentic food. You know that Persia was one of the greatest of the oldest empires. At its apex it covered 2.1 million square miles. and was hallmarked by a remarkable sense of organization, communications and community efficiency. Athen’s great Alexander the Great was an ardent admirer of Persia's’ Cyrus the Great, but he must have rationalized it away because he went on to defeat them. Oh, BTW, a main contributor to the decline of one of the Earth’s greatest empires ever was high taxes and government overhead that sunk the economy. Yes, they built too large of bureaucracy. Not many people write about Persia anymore. But it was one of the more formative civilizations

Today is also, “National Twilight Zone Day” in case you are wondering where my mind went.

Did you hear about the racing snail who removed its shell? It didn’t get faster, just more sluggish.

The Question:

I always got the 60’s group The Animals confused with the Rolling Stones. What are the Animals 5 biggest hits. And who was the lead singer?

The Headlines:

--Inflation Numbers Come In Raging Higher Than Expected; Stocks Drop At Opening But Recover At Mid-Morning; Expecting Roller Coaster Day Again.

--Russai Missiles Pummel Port of Odessa.

--Costa Rica Declares National Emergency After Massive Ransom Ware Attacks.

--Trump Candidate Loses in Nebraska, Wins iN West Virginia.

--PGA Tour Denies Waiver Extensions For Players Who Want More Play In Saudi Arabia’s LIV Tour.

The only consistent news I am receiving lately is that all my stocks are hitting 52-week lows. What’s that all about?

I would say it is inevitable that there will be a big split in the PGA tour. There are just too many good golfers to be satisfied by one confining tour. I have suggested in the past that the PGA could protect their dominant position by developing a e second tour. Yhe top 300 hundred players would be divided equally between the two leagues. I would expect cooperation with the existing European tour, which would surely benefit. I see two leagues emerging with fun competitiveness between the two. Maybe they should collaborate with LIV now. Sometimes an arrogant position can be a losing proposition. Just take a peek at the number of first-time winners this year. Great new players emerge every year.

Did you hear about the nurse who was reprimanded because she was absent without gauze.

I have been trying to be intelligent today. It’s hard. You have to know something

Governments can divert a lot of citizens into narrow intense controversies and hide a lot of stuff from the people, but they can't hide the enormous increases of food prices.

Did you hear about the chicken who went to a séance so he could get to the other side.

It appars that if all the suits against CVS, Walgreens and Walmart are own, these companies could go out of business, and the government officials would waste all the money. And some people are saying we have to be kinder to street drug dealers.

The Answer:

Eric Burdon of the Animals was huge in the sixties. Teri number one Hit was House of the Rising Sun. The other four top five hits were “Don’t Bring Me Down’, “I gotta Get Out of this Place”, “Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and “It’s my life”. The last one was said to be an inspiration for the Doors and Jim Morrison. The Animals were quite the British 1960s group, but it seems they got lost between the Beatles and the Stones and maybe the Dave Clark Five.

A parade of rabbits hopping backward is a receding hare line.

Nothing like a little sunshine:
