Gullibility

Today's Tids Issue 5,167

Think First:

I think that restaurants were better when we had more Ma and Pa establishments that just grew up topsy-turvy from a good idea and solid food. When the ambience grew out of the people enjoying good meals.

The phrase I really hate in America these days is, “I made a mistake” from the mouths of felons who planned premeditated heinous crimes at all levels from white collar swindles to savage murders.

The greatest morning tease in America these days is the fast start in the stock markets.

Did you hear about the new restaurant called Karma? There’s no menu - you get what you deserve.

Don't worry that it's Friday the thirteenth. It's been trumped by the fact that it is also "National Apple Pie Day" and World Cocktail Day, If you don't drink and you don't like apple pie, then you are really out of luck.

The Question:

What are considered the Ten Best Movies about Motherhood?

Personally, I'm getting tired of eating at restaurants. I guess I’m just an eater instead of a foodie.

I think waking up positive every day is about as good as it gets in life. Its far better for a healthy life than worrying about whether you're eating enough vegetables.

My dad always had an upbeat attitude. In fact just before he passed away because we couldn’t remember his blood type… He looked up and said, “Be positive!”

A headline appeared on my smartphone this morning, “Single Mother Summits Mount Everest for the10th Time.” Can’t people be people instead of being micro categorized? This identity politics thing is not just getting out of hand, it is becoming quite divisive. Maybe she's single because she was always out climbing big mountains while her husband took care of her kids.

The wild, wild west is back in America, and it isn’t pretty. And certainly not romantic.

All of these apps and browsers and other computer things keep on sending me long missives about their security and how they are protecting me, and I don’t understand a word they are saying. And then they ask me to make a decision about something described in computerese and click on “agree”. And I run as fast as I can to escape.

The latest entertainment reality fraud soon to mar the TV world is The Culpo Sisters. Olivia Culpo, a local Cranston woman who is also a former Miss Universe will join her three sisters in what looks like a junior Kardashians adventure. This means they hope to earn big money by doing nothing except hiring a great publicist who can makes doing nothing appear exciting. And of course, rope in a segment of American who will watch anything with glitter. Olivia Culpo, for some reason, has amassed 5.1 million followers on Instagram. The show will be on Discovery+.

Speaking of reality show seduction, why do the glitterati think that the rest of the pedestrian world is so gullible, so moldable. Golf great Greg Norman has appeared to downplay the murder of Saudi Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. “Look, we’ve all made mistakes and you just want to learn by those mistakes and how you can correct them going forward,” We made a mistake, sure... by murdering a good man in cold blood and then using bone saws to cut him up in little pieces to carry him out of the building unnoticed. Sure Greg. And that time you collapsed like a frightened rag doll on the way to a sure thing Master's Championship was a mistake too.

My dad, who always had an upbeat attitude, unfortunately, passed away when we couldn’t remember his blood type… His last words to us were, “Be positive!”

The Answer:

Number ten is Dumbo (1938) followed by Terms of Endearment, (1983), Stella Dallas (1937), The Blind Side (2009), Mildred Pierce (1938), I Remember Mama (1948), Steel Magnolias (1989), Bachelor Mother (1939) and Imitation of Life (1934). The number 1 Best Mother’s film is Places in the Heart (1984).

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
