Today's Tids Issue 5,166

There Once Was...:

Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular.

The new Dem reelection strategy is to paint the Repubs black by hyperbolizing emotional issues hoping that will mask everything real that is going wrong in this country.

I knew that this country was heading down the tubes when a generation accepted the bastardization of the venerable martini. That was the day we learned that nothing in America was sacred anymore.

If anybody is still wondering why the markets are collapsing daily, it is simply because the era of free money is over.

Uh Oh – Today is National Limericks Day!

The Question:

Who are considered the five best All-Time Jazz Pianists?

The Headlines:

--Markets Open Down; Investors Looking For Inflation Peak And Resulting Downward Movement; Bitcoin and Crypto Crash.

--NK Fires Three Missiles Into Ocean; Covid Hits NK, Kim Orders Lockdown.

--Finland Moving Closer To Nato Membership.

--China’s Mars Rover Makes Surprising Discovery of Water Evidence.

--RI Legislature Sets Two Tier Tax Plan For Newport; Owner Occupied Homes Will Be Taxed Lower

--Baby Formula Is The Latest Great American Product Shortage.

--Naomi Judd Died From Self Inflicted Gun Shot.

--Celtics Stop Playing, Let Bucks Sneak In For Key Win.

There once was a guy who wrote Tids

About irresponsibility he intently forbids

And as hard as he’d care

To try to be to be fair,

Democrats kept flipping their lids.

A good reader observes: “As I watch this new generation try and rewrite our history, I'm sure of one thing: It will be misspelled and have no punctuation.” (This good reader is also the biggest critic of Tids Typos.)

Ukraine seems to have a good chance of holding off and pushing back Russia if they can just get a continuing source of super accurate guided missiles and good satellite observation.

A sign outside of the Supreme Court yesterday said that Justice Amy Coney Barrett (Mother of five) doesn’t know anything about pregnancy.

When you are ahead, never stop playing the game.

I always thought it would be fun to be a lawyer. But then I realized that somebody has to write those reams of legal opinions and have the time and inclination to read and interpret them. Not particularly well suited to happy-go-lucky tids mavens.

Who has a better chance of winning, American stockholders or Ukraine citizens? That is the question of the moment.

While nobody was looking it appears that major league soccer is poised to overtake NHL Hockey as the 4th Major US pro sport. But not here in the northeast and other northern climes where hocket is still a young person's favorite. Someday I guess I will have to learn something about yellow cards.

I Just got fired from my job as a set designer. I left without making a scene.

We live in an ironic era where Trump is bombarding decent Republicans more than are the Democrats.

The Answer:

There have been lot of really great jazz pianists. Number one on this list Charles Waring of Udiscovermusic is Art Tatum. Next is Thelonious Monk followed by the troubled Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Oscar Pederson, McCoy Tyner, Bud Powell, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea and at 10 one of my personal favorites Ahmad Jamal. Duke Ellington and Fats Waller are 11 and 12. They are followed by Count Basie, Earl Fatha Hines and Jellie Roll Morton. The great Dave Brubeck (To me) is 16. I have lots of 33 RPM albums of #17 Errol Garner. I have a nice Horace Silver (2O) Album too. Number 21 is Teddy Wilson who was great with Benny Goodman quartets. And we used to go to NYC on dates to see #23 George Shearing.

There will be one of those gigantic magnificent Red Blood Moons this Saturday night -- Great for lovers holding hands.

This is one of my favorites. a nice way to slide into Thursday.
