I remember when.

Today's Tids Issue 5,174

Invention for invention sake:

I might be a fading dinosaur,

But I remember how could roar.

Without today's technology

Altering life’s plan methodology.

When my mind was pretty hip,

Way before the computer chip.

I saw a poll a day or two ago that said 70% of Repubs want to impeach Biden. Hey, m let's stop it with the impeachment crap. In America the people vote politicians in and vote politicians out. Congress and the Supreme Court are designed to temper the actions of bad presidents. The idea of impeaching everybody who wins by all the losers is just plain bad for America, Hey, we have a system. A damn good one. A call for impeachment every four years or some other rule change to a fundamentally strong America system is like that Floogle bird of lore that continually flies in ever diminishing concentric circles and eventually flies up its own you know what/ And then the country will be really in the dark. And it won’t be pretty

Well, maybe we had system before our out of control social media.

Don’t throw away those masks. A reader says they are great for covering your eyes while you pump gas.

Bring back word processors! I was merrily typing your favorite morning mess when the internet went down. Now Word is only in the cloud which means that productivity runs smack into a brick wall. Is Microsoft hiring government employees?

The Question:

Name the seven original astronauts -- The Mercury Seven. Bonus: Name the six original NHL teams.

The Headlines:

--Markets Open Lower, Continue To Fall Into Mid PM; A Mood Of Expected Declines Sets In.

--All Political Eyes Focused On Georgia To Gage Trump Clout.

--As Biden Meets In Japan China And Russia Hold Joint Military Drills; Both Countries Fly In Nuclear Capable Bombers.

--Putin Pal Belarusian Prez Warns That WWIII Is Coming Unless US Stops Supplying Weapons To Ukraine.

--DoJ Orders FBI Agents To Intervene If They See Police Brutality.

--US Birthrate Ticks Up 1%, Halting Steady Decline.

--Above Average Hurricane Season Predicted.

I took a walk on the docks today and I saw lots of lobster traps, more on land than at sea. And the price if a good lobster roil just keeps clawing a way at my wallet.

Well, Biden finally said yesterday what Repubs have been saying and I have been writing about since Obama implied it. The Dams want higher energy prices so they can justify the higher cost of inefficient alternative energy sources. Of course, Joe B is back tracking, which has become his basic modus operandi.

Today is National Scavenger Hunt Day. It is named after my favorite uncle who was a hoarder. All the nieces and nephews like old Uncle Scav.

The mood on Wall Street now seems to be that the Fed is willing to risk the declines in Stock Market and economic growth in order to get inflation under control. Before this lightning bolt of illumination struck, many Wall Street mavens held on to lingering hopes that Powell would change his mnd and rush in to clean up the mess on the street.

The Indy 500 is this weekend. It always reminds me that I have done a lot of yard work over the years listening to the race on the radio. It always was a while doing the tough side of gardening and early season cleanup. I always felt pleasantly exhausted at the end of the day, gabbing a bottle of milk. I like traditional stuff like that.

One song that always seems to pop up into my mind is “Somewhere”; Somewhere there's a place for us. It just has always seemed like one of tenderest loving songs of all.

So, Prez Biden didn’t believe hat he said that the US would militarily defend our favorite ally Taiwan. I believe the Taiwan situation is potentially one of the scariest. I have this image that the Taiwan/China saga is like Dorothy peddling her bicycle into a 1000-mile-wide relentless tornado.

Phone notifications tend to want you to watch a video. I much prefer reading the words. They are easier to digest, and any analyze. And of course, go back and digest again.

The Answer:

The first seven who dared to go were no human had ever been were, Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, Gordon Cooper, Wally Shirra, Deke Slayton, John Glenn and Scott Carpenter. I always like to remind b people of the originals in anything. The trail blazers. Those sometimes missed in today’s hype. Bonus: The original six NHL teams were Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Mapleleafs, Montreal Canadians and Detroit Red Wings.

So, if you are concerned that the Tids is a bit late, blame it on Microsoft engineering who didn't think it through. Maybe Abbott was using Microsoft Excel when they were planning the sched for baby food production.
