Mom and apple pie.

Today's Tids Issue 5,161

The guiding light:

Well, it is the Friday before Mother's Day. It may have started out as a Hallmark promotion, but I believe just about everybody now looks at this day with warm appreciation, as having incredible meaning. Children are such a wonderful part of moms from the second they first sense the light of their world beyond the darkness of the sheltering womb. They grow resisting suggestions and finding ways to get around Mom rules, but always rush to moms' side when they need a tender hand. And this is the day like every Sunday around now in May they remember all the great and special little things moms do. And how they feel how lucky they are to have a mom who cares so deeply.

From this chair, it looks to me that if you want a significant job in the Biden Admin you have to be historic.

Governor Sununu of New Hampshire for President in 2024! I think he is the kind of guy this country needs about now. Down to earth and definitely not acidic, he definitely has a sense of humor and great management skills and making the executive decisions.

The Question:

What astonishing track and field event occurred today 68 years ago in Oxford England?

The Headlines:

-- As Markets Open Stocks Continue To Kick Investors When They Are Down; Market Turns Positive In late Morning; April Payrolls Rise By 426K; Unemployment Holds At 3.4%

--Russia Announces 3- Day Cease Fire To Allow Citizens To leave Steel Plant In Mariupol.

--Harry And Andrew Will Not Appear With QEII On Balcony At Platinum Jubilee.

--Louisiana Legislators Advancing Bill That Would Make Abortion A Homicide.

Do you know what really galls me? Buying a 12oz bottle of diet soda at a convenience store for $2.50. But when you’re thirsty... Actually, buying anything at a convenience store tends to be a bit cringe worthy.

Biden's new Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, is in a domestic partnership with CNN anchor Suzanne Malveaux. Will CNN have to recuse itself form press conferences?

I wasn’t originally going to get a brain transplant, but then I changed my mind.

This kid Shoei Ohtani is the real deal -- Great pitcher, great hitter, great work ethic; just plain amazing... And fun to watch.

The NIL deal era (Name, Image, Likeness) has basically taken the big Booster money out of the shadows. Many a big-time sports program was torched by NCAA Admins for paying athletes under the table. Now they are pushing piles of dough across the tabletop, and it is all legal. The rich will get Richer. Savvy and wealthy business people are skirting vague NCAA guidelines that govern athlete compensation. College football’s biggest donors have orchestrated business ventures that are distributing five-, six- and seven-figure payments to athletes under the guise of endorsement opportunities and appearance fees. They are also pooling millions of their dollars in creating exclusive, high-priced clubs. And it all has just begun. Playing for the school colors is over.

Hey folks – Amber and Depp are actors. They know how to emote and react and say the right sounding things on a public stage.

The Answer:

Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute barrier for a one-mile race this day in 1957, with a 3:59.4. It was a wonderment. In 1846 Richard Webster had the record of 4:36. The current record is 3:43.4 is held by Hicham El Guerrouj Of Morocco/ By the way, Australian Miler John Landy broke Roger's record just 48 days later on June 21.

Have great day for Moms, living and deceased, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

I remember. Yes, geezers had moms too.
