Finally, I did it.

Today's Tids Issue 5,261

Music has a way of parting the clouds:

Today is National Fight Procrastination Day. I lose.

It’s about time I started the Tids. Did you ever have a dadding around morning? It can be relaxing, but the catching up isn’t.

There is this scientific curiosity about Antarctica's so-called "Doomsday glacier" -- nicknamed because of its high risk of collapse and threat to global sea level rise of several feet. This Thwaites Glacier, located in West Antarctica, is one of the widest on Earth and is larger than the state of Florida. But it's just a faction of the West Antarctic ice sheet, which holds enough ice to raise sea level by up to 16 feet, according to NASA. My mind just has trouble grasping the idea that such a piece of ice even that large could raise the entire ocean by several feet. I’ll have to look into it.

Maybe I'm just procrastinating believing, but maybe also I am just being rational.  According to the US Geological Survey, there are over 332,519,000 cubic miles of water on the planet. A cubic mile is the volume of a cube measuring one mile on each side. Of this vast volume of water, NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center estimates that 321,003,271 cubic miles is in the ocean, about 97 percent of the Earth's water. Of the tiny percentage that's not in the ocean, about two percent is frozen up in glaciers and ice caps. At would make “Doomsday” a mere fraction of the ocean’s water.

Sorry, I got carried away about water. Maybe it’s because of delightful life-giving rain has been with us for two days.

A wife says to her husband that moose are falling from the sky. The husband says, it’s reindeer.

The Question:

“Kate and Allie” was a good TV show, at least from my point of view. Jane Curtain played the more traditional valued Allie. Who played free spirited Kate? Bonus: What was the other big popular role for this actress who played Kate?

The Headlines:

--Wall Streeters Are Back; After Stumbling Early Stocks Begin To Show A little Green; Ukraine’s Zelensky Rings The Opening Bell.

--Liz Truss Officially PM After Traditional Visit With Queen Elizabeth.

--Body Of Memphis Kindergarten Teacher Eliza Fletcher Found; Alleged Killer/Kidnapper Arrested

--Judge Gives Trump His Special Master In Sensitive Documents Case.

Eliza Fletcher was just out for a run in the morning. Her alleged Assailant Cleotha Abston was there a couple of years after serving 20 years for a similar “aggravated” kidnapping when he was but 16. That's a side of prison time we don’t here ear enough about.

Now advocates are talking about a national $20 minimum wage.  Is a America losing its collective mind. A minimum wage is a starter wager for people generally without skills or job experience. The idea is to grow into something of value. And people wonder why we have inflation.

“My teacher told me not to worry about spelling, berceuse in the future there will be autocorrect. And for that I am eternally grapefruit.” Thanks to TB.

Another reason why I won't be in a self-driving car soon.

Nature abhors a vacuum, but not as much as a cat does.

The busiest PR people lately are working for NCIS and Chip and Joanna Gaines.

Obviously hot cars are super dangerous for Kids and animals. But now I have found that even M&M’s melt there too.

The hearts of tech early adopter denizens are beating madly as they await the opening of Apple’s annual keynote event tomorrow. iPhone 14 is expected to be a star.

Add Apple PR people to that list of most active.

It’s hard to beat a hard-boiled egg for breakfast.

The Answer:

Kate was played by the lovely Susan Saint James. Bonus: Her other big hit was a Sunday night must TV appointment with d costar Rock Hudson in -- McMillan and Wife.

I procrastinated ending the Tids, because I was listening to this. Sometimes I get into music and forget to say goodbye. Goodbye E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y. Maybe you would enjoy this too on a rainy day. I hope the chills don’t turn the rain to sleet.
