I believe in Humans

Today's Tids Issue 5,254

Merrily Traversing Eras:

Ron DeSantis has probably just alienated Newport Rhode Islanders with his expenditure to make Pensacola Florida the center of the world for US “Americas Cup” racing. And, it is with the approval of the NY Yacht Club. And he’ll probably send illegal immigrants here.

But... I still love my northeast US of A.

It’s supposed to be in the 20’s here tomorrow. That’s one reason why we never plant until May 17. Hey, that's today! Whoops

What will happen when AI gets a hold of the Stock Markets. Now, there is something to think about. And based on what I read, it is entirely feasible.

Did you know there is person in the Biden Admin whose job includes cracking down on the use of gas stoves? What in hell is happening to eth United States of America.

The Question:

Who is Sam Altman?

The Headlines:

--Markets I open in Black; McCarthy/Biden Remarks on Debt Deal Increasing Hope; Target Beats but Warns of Growing Consumer Caution.

--Trump Candidate Daniel Cameron Beats DeSantis Candidate Kelly Craft for Kentucky Repub Governor Primary; Craft also had Backing of Other Powerful Repubs Including Pompeo; Dems Score Big Win in Philly Election Where Abortion was Key Issue.

--NC Voters Say No Abortions After 12 Weeks.

s the Lakers, Denver Nuggets super star Nikola Jokic scored 34 points, had 21 rebounds and doled out 14 assists all that with a 70% shooting percentage. He did it all year long which is why so many people wondered why Joel Embiid beat him out for MVP.

I always enjoy seeing a seal released back into the ocean after being healed by the people at Mystic Aquarium. It is kind of interesting how they look back with their big dark eyes at the humans they have come to know, yet the lure of their native waters always draws them back in without hesitation... and they swim away.

The Voice final five isn’t bad. It almost looked a little rigged with Blake the only judge with two singers, for this, the final show of his over 20 years., But his Noivas brought down the house and his Grace West is one terrific classic country singer. The sister’s trio is wonderful, as is Gina Miles and D Smooth rounding the five. I personally would have had Holly Brand in the final five. Maybe over Noivas.

That new judge, rapper Chance, is a really good guy and I really liked the song with the powerful meaning he performed so well, “Same Drugs”.

BTW, how odd was it to have a key result for an entire season based on five minutes if helter-skelter voting at the end of the show. It almost felt like the NBC execs couldn’t get rid of the show fast enough.

I have to say, I get more crap from that Newsbreak site than anywhere else. And talk about Supermarket Tabloid misinformation headlines...!

The PGA Championship begins tomorrow. I was surprised that there are LIV players in the Tourney sponsored by the Organization they all jilted. Starting tomorrow up in Oak Hills outside of Rochester NY the odds makers have Jon Rahn atop at13/2. Next is Scottie Scheffler (7-1), Rory McIlroy (12-1), Partrick Cantlay (16-1), Xander Schaufele (16-1) and Brooks Koepka (18-1). Rounding out the Top Ten are Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Camron Smith and Jason Day. (That ls eleven but the last three were tied. Jordan Spieth, (Hurt wrist two weeks ago) is considered a sleeper among several experts. As is, surprise, Ricky Fowler.

A reader tells me that dating at an older age is different. After a nice evening, you always go home with a container of mashed potatoes, and a stern warning not to forget to return the Tupperware!

My gut tells me that the Prez and the speaker are spending a lot of their meetings figuring out how they can both make concessions and still look decent to their constituents. Tye have made up their minds to set a new limit, but now they have to save face, the most important objective of all politicians!

Justin Thomas has done very little this year... for him.

Memories of Mom, Department:

Here is a brief news item in a breaking story as reported by BBC:Prince Harry, Meghan and her mother were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" involving paparazzi. The incident happened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an awards ceremony in New York on Tuesday. The prince's spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" lasted for over two hours.” Details are still coming in. How eerie is that.

The Answer:

This Q was just a test to see if you read the news yesterday about Sam Altman, the new Guru of AI testifying before Congress and actually asking for Government regulation on what could be potentially a scary software takeover of the country.

I'm not sure our fate will be seeing robots controlling the streets, but I’m pretty sure our computers, phones, cars and households will be filled with little creepy-crawly software thingies slowly taking over our lives. There ain’t no cave dark and deep enough to hide us from the insidious nature of data we freely gave away.

But frankly, the world might have a chance again if they brought back Dilbert.
