The Pearly Gates.

Today's Tids Issue 4,773

Pure human emotions are everywhere:

I think God has been trying to tell us what heaven really is. And lately the being of all beings he has been giving us more dramatic clues that should have gotten us thinking. Heaven is -- a world without politics. Think about it.

I hear there was a lot of excitement this weekend, like some NFL games, Notre Dame/Clemson and other stuff. But for me without a doubt, nothing was as exciting or as moving as the NSCAR Championship Cup Race. Maybe you noticed that a very popular 24-year-old Chase Elliott won it impressively. I loved the race, but what made it special was the genuine sportsmanship that followed. How these highly motivated competitors all drove to pull up next to Elliott and say things like, “Great Job”, “You did well kid”; “thumbs up” all over the track. And more. Then the great Jimmie Johnson in his last race ever drove up window to window, and everybody there knew he was saying, “Kid, I pass the torch to you”. You could tell the admiration for what he did came from the hearts of these incredible drivers, mostly champions themselves. You don’t think of teary eyes when you think of NASCAR. But the emotions poured into these marathon races are huge. And these very human drivers release them like any human. NASCAR is one of the great examples of many people, all kinds of people, in many disciplines working together for a singular purpose. Appreciating the value of every contributor; appreciating excellence of all whether friend or foe.

I hadn’t realized that half the USA had elected a saint for President. But watching the awed, almost reverential portrayal of a pretty average guy for President, and you begin to understand just how deep the media was in the Joe Biden pocket, or should I say his handler’s pockets.

If it walks like a duck…, Department:

Several New England states have been instigating curfews. Now that’s not exactly how the Governors are describing them, but if a person wants to go out and the Governor says stay home, It’s a curfew. But young people are probably already figuring a way around it. Instead of going out late like normal, they will go early and find lots of friends of eager friends who will leave at early closing time for someone’s home and an all-night party.

The most important election in America will be the Georgia Senate run-offs in January. The result will determine whether or not American will be able to preserve a little sanity in the Government. Watch the money flow there. No mail-in ballots, please.

We had a decent sized (For New England) 4.2 earthquake just off coast here this morning. One of my daughter’s friends called her to say, “It’s the start of the Biden Presidency!” Or is that, Kamala’s.

Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss is one of the best ways to get your heart happily pumping in the morning.

The Question:

Name the ten most popular songs that have the word “Purple” in the title.

The Headlines:

--Markets Soar On Pfizer Vaccine News; Markets Like Removal Of Doubt With Annulment Of Biden Win; Hopes For Stimulus Rise. Markets Up 1315 At Mid Afternoon.

--Trump Fires Defense Secretary Esper.

--Signs Indicate “Putin Is Preparing For A Deeply Adversarial Relationship With America’s Next President.”

--Rapid Rise In Covid Cases Is Beginning To Strain Hospitals.

--Eta Downgraded; Big Rain Producer.

--Biden Talking “Mask Mandate” For All; Biden Group Established 16 Member Covid Board.

--Infections Hitting New Daily Records.

I have been enjoying a TV program called “The Carbonaro Effect”. It’s hard to describe and maybe hard to find on TV (It’s on a local RI Channel here) but it makes me laugh. Bob Carbonaro has droll sense of humor and he is also a clever magician who confounds and scares people in a Hidden Camera format.

Old friends are disappearing every day. The latest is Friendly’s Ice Cream and Sandwich Shops – home of the Fribble and other goodies. Actually, Friendly’s disappeared years ago when it was corporatized. The original Friendly’s was favorite stop for me over the years for lunch, mainly because of their “Big Beef”. sandwich – the best hamburger of all. It had a quality, unique beef and cheesy taste and juicy, juicy, in a grilled cheese format. Over the years after corporate takeover they still had something called Big Beef, but that was in name only and was basically just a below average cheeseburger. The original was Big beefy –flavor. Not big and unwieldy.

I’ll also miss Friendly’s butter brickle ice cream.

Have you noticed that every restaurant seems to be touting “Best burger Ever”? But what Chefs are using to define their burgers as best these days, is really all about how much junk they can pile on top versus another chef’s idea of big and delicious. I measure good burgee by the innate taste of the meat, pure and simple.

BTW, way I’m rooting against the U Georgia Bulldogs now that their state went from southern Red to migrating Ex-New Yorker’s Blue. I’m vindictive like that.

Will the South ever rise again?

The dancing in the streets’, mask less celebrations by Biden minions is a bit hypnotical considering the condemnation by these very same sanctimonious people and media of the Trump Rallies. Everything today has a touch of BS in it and Social media helps it thrive.

The Answer:

I don’t think it is surprising that “Purple Rain” is number one. The rest are Purple Haze, Purple People Eater, Deep Purple, A Man In A Purple Dress, Purple Toupee, Purple Stain, Start Wearing Purple and Purple Heather. I would add “Lavender Blue”.

I guess I became a little passionate over NASCAR, so I had to find a Purple Question!

“Worrying works! More than 90% of the things I worry about never happen.”
