A snippet world.

Today's Tids Issue 4,841

It's a hard to believe world:

It’s easy to become a victim of a scam or a dishonest ideology these days. And it isn’t just crooks and clever PR people speaking half-truths with aplomb, it is most definitely politicians and nefarious activists too. By the way, these same politicians are the only group in America who are not bound by the laws governing false advertising. Say what? Technology lets scammers create visuals that were never there and words that come and disappear. If there was ever a time to stay cloistered, it is now.

The girl in the middle of the tennis court is Annette.

The Question:

Well, I am not up-to-date at all on doggie care, but you may find this Q interesting. What are considered the Top Ten Best Inventions for Dog Owners.

The defense lawyers for Trump did what a lot of people wish the news media would have been doing for years, reporting the entire texts of speeches and comments instead of prejudicial selectivity.

I think that it was Beethoven’s 2nd symphony that changed the way people heard mesic. It may not be considered his finest, but it was a distinct departure from symphonic music up to that point.

I wanted to be a monk but I never got the chants.

The French have generally over time been looked at as being pretty liberal as a nation. But a recent headline from the NYTimes, caught my eye: “Even France Fears Americas Woke Left.” The story goes on to say, “French officials, intellectuals, and journalists are warning that progressive American ideas are contaminating their society.” According to the NYT, “They specifically cite progressive ideas on race, gender, and post-colonialism as undermining their way of life.” French President Macron defines the “Threat” as certain social science theories imported form the USA. And most there in the land of glorious wine lay the blame at out-of-control leftism on the USA campuses. There is agreement that the many infectious incidents of French concern fall under the common heading of Cancel Culture.”

The major headline this morning from the normally reliable Yahoo Finance is about a biodegradable straw. American business and industry success today is a bases on a straw? Biden economics: The last straw.  Some think that Prez JB is a straw man for the left.

Straws are for suckers.

“We drift down time, clutching at straws. But what good’s brick to a drowning man.” Tom Stoppard.

That’s the last straw. Honest

Duh Headline of the day (Saturday Morning): “Ice storm being blamed for deadly highway, 130 car pileup.” You think? Nice to see crack Government transportation investigators are on top of it.

Do you get the feeling that perhaps civilization has reached an apex and is now receding? I’ve talked before about our decline into the new caveman society with significant uncivilized behavior. But more relevant is that new generations are going back to pre-language days and hieroglyphics with the increased use of emojis. Crazy. The signs are there.

Headline of the Day:

Police car loses wheels to thief! Cops are working tirelessly to nab suspect.

Local news headlines that is never worth the time to read are those that start with something like, “Rhode Island Congressional delegation reacts to; comments on, says …”

Did you know that 12.7% of the US House of Representatives is Black? That is almost exactly equal, perhaps a bit higher than the percent of blacks in the nation. The House does indeed look like America. Just in case you were interested.

I forgot last week to comment on Mark Cuban’s (Owner of NBA’s Dallas Mavericks) decoration that he will not play Thee National Anthem before games, saying, “I've spoken to people in our community who believe the national anthem doesn't represent them and their beliefs. I want their voices to be heard and I respect the fact that the song doesn't represent them.” The National Anthem is played to honor and celebrate living the greatest country in the world, a country by the way that accepts and offers more avenues upon which to express differing opinions than any other county in the world. Mark is missing the point with narrow thinking – the NA celebrates the freedom to speak out. Honor it for just that. What kind of melting pot would we be if we had national Anthems played for every group with a view point. If we can’t get back together over a simple song, we will never get back together. Note: Mark Cuban has reinstituted the NA. After a little pressure from the NBA office.)

We need to retain at least one thread of cohesiveness.

The CDC has just come out with guidelines for school startups. I think such basic guidelines should be state determined and locally interpreted.

French Fries may be the most popular food in the world. The average American eats 29 Pounds of Fries per year. While US Healthnet’s nuts will be deep fried over that number, they’d be burned to a crisp over Belgians who eat 110 Pounds per year! At that rate we could have another potato famine.

France’s Macron and other European leaders have been trying to regulate social media platforms. The French President says the muzzling of a US President is just one more reason to take a closer look at their power. Macron said, “I don’t want to live in a democracy where the key decisions and the decision to at the point of them cut your mic ... is decided by a private player, a private social network,"

“Ein Heldenleben”, the symphonic poem by Richard Strauss, has some truly beautiful moments. But then, I like most of what (Non-Waltz) Strauss wrote.

The Answer:

Ok, Number 10 is the “PatPeek Fence Window”. #9 is “Kurgo Car Zip Line Harness”. At #8 and going down to one we have “FrostyBowlz Chilled Water Bowl”, “Safety First Universal Car Window Travel Vent”, “Playdate”, “LESYPET Leash with Umbrella”, “iFetch”, “Furbo High-Tech Treat-Tossing Dog Camera”, “Inubox”, and at number 1, “Haptic Feedback Harness” What I got out of this question is how hard people work to come up with overly clever names.

Have they cancelled our Presidents yet? We’d better honor them now while there is still something left to remember in this country. You never know these days who is going to go missing next no matter how much they contributed to the freedom we all enjoy including all those groups who hate us and want to erase our past. So let’s hear it for all the Presidents who led us through all the eras. Some were as mystifying and as rough as today. To remember that all of the crazies who wanted to take down the USA aren’t just walking our streets today. Happy Presents Day, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

So, did you hear about the waitress who was still limping well over two weeks after dropping 10-pound case of margarine on her foot! She couldn’t believe it’s not better!

 (Thanks’ to “Shoe”)
