Get wet, be happy.

Today's Tids Issue 5,500

Short term memory America:

I liked hearing that Speaker Johnson “Shrugged off” concerns over the grumblings of the peanut gallery and a move for his ouster. It’s nice to see that a person can grow up in a job when they find out what the job is all about. It’s easy to hurl rocks from the back row.

People just spend a lot of time complaining about the rain this month. But the poem “April Showers being May flowers" goes back a long ways, in fact to the year 1157, in the form of a short poem written by Thomas Tusser. His original poem was “Sweet April showers Do spring May flowers” At the end of the Fourteenth Century, Geoffrey Chaucer put in his two cents. Or is it shillings, with this from “The Canterbury Tales.” “Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote, The droghte of March hath perced to the roote, And bathed every veyne in swich licour, Of which vertu engendred is the flour;” (Translation: “When in April the sweet showers fall, That pierce March’s drought to the root and all, And bathed every vein in liquor that has power, To generate therein and sire the flower.”

No forgetful populace, it is not unusual to get rain in April.

And from atop wisdom mountain the wizard Ziggy says: If you join a cheap gym, you won't feel guilty not going to it.

The Question:

There’s a new rash of injuries being reported by hospitals and Docs revolving around people rushing into Pickle Ball. What are the four most common injuries medical people are seeing right now?

The Headlines:

--Rate decrease or No Rate decrease Argument Holding Wall Street Hostage; Netflix to Report Today. Other Mega Techs Coming Soon.

--Speaker Johnson Looking for Dem Help to Pass Three Aid Bills Totaling $95 Billion; Bills Provide for Military Aide to Ukraine and Israel, Humanitarian Aid to Gaza and Replenishing US Arms.

--Netanyahu Caught between Global Allies and a Hard Place.

--Senate Dismisses Impeachment Charges against Mayorkas

The Biden Admin is putting the big half nelson on Congress Dems to push passage of an enhanced surveillance bill that will provide fewer protections of Citizen privacy. Specifically, the admin wants to remove the need for a warrant. Ironically, a Dem Senator is leading a charge against it, saying. “Think of what this would be like in the hands of Donald Trump as President. I like to laugh at the conflicting logic used by Government officials, but losing privacy rights is no laughing matter.

Haley Mills is 78. Didn't I just see her in Parent Trap?

Scientists have conducted blood tests on a frog to extract DNA and confirm its identity. They have discovered that the frog was: 30% Russian, 30% French, 20% Italian, 10% Spanish, 5% British, 4% Dutch and a tad Pole...!

Switching to a four-day week will be good for employers considering that a lot of employees now only put in three good days.

Last night I decided to tune in to watch the last several innings of the Red Sox game. But there was nothing there. It was over in 1 hour and 49 Minutes. Yes, Taylor Hauk threw a 94-pitch gem of a complete game. I love to watch baseball and the new speed up clock has been a great improvement. Unless it has a negative effect on hitting.

The problem up here now is that if Taylor keeps on going the way he has been, the Sox stats wizards will urge to trade him for a third string catcher around August.

We have to get back to compromises and away from the If-it-isn't -my-idea-it-isn't-any-good, mode.

All of a sudden conservative leaning folks are liking de-woked FettermanMaybe we should just stop the identity politics boxing process. It just flies in the face of reality regardless of what statisticians say.

A guy sits down in a movie theater and notices that the man in front of him has brought his dog and it's sitting in the seat next to him. He thinks it's unusual, but he likes dogs so he decides that as long as it's not a distraction he won't mention it. The movie starts and pretty soon there's a funny part. The dog makes some low woofing sounds that seem like laughter. In a little while there's a sad part and the dog appears to be weeping. This continues throughout the film and the man sitting behind the dog is astounded. When the lights come up he taps the dog's owner on the shoulder and tells him, "I gotta say, and I know it sounds weird, but it seemed like your dog really enjoyed this movie." The dog owner looks at the dog and nods. "I know, it really is weird," he says, "because he absolutely hated the book."

The Answer:

Strained calf muscles and ankle sprains are most common. Abrupt twisting is causing Meniscus tears and knee injuries. Torn Achilles tendons are rare right now but a genuine worry for professionals as they contemplate more severe problems in the future. Also creeping in are overuse upper body injuries like Rotator Cuff problems and tennis elbows. One of the factors contributing to this increasing rash of injuries that many newbies to the sport were never terribly active athletics in the past.

Find a big puddle and jump in and feel good about yourself:
