You know, I have heard these terms for decades, but they just passed over my head. Then suddenly now in my last several years on earth, I decided it is time to find out. It’s never too late for anything. A woofer is a speaker that reproduces low frequencies while a Tweeter is a speaker that reproduces high frequencies. Most sound systems have a Mid-range Speaker to ease the transition. I'm sure some of you audiophiles will have some comments on this.
