Corn versus Covid.

Today's Tids Issue 4,744

Lost in a corn maze:

The Montauk daisies are beginning to burst, so there’s some good news for everybody tired of the gloom.

Here is one simple fact. Covid may be producing woes and depression among some, but it is conclusive that local sweet corn has had one of its better seasons ever. Obviously superb corn had nothing to do with Covid, but it does tell me that life always goes on quite beautifully and sometimes actually gets better within the drear. That’s the simple fact I have today. Don’t give up on the world. Something is always churning up.

Wokeness is the opposite of relational human ambition.

I think that Brioche rolls are vastly overrated. They must appeal to peep who enjoy saying things like Brioche. because they invariably ruin a good sandwich.

In Boca Raton Florida a teacher reported that while teaching kids online she saw parents in the background smoking pot, drinking booze and walking in the background nekid. I have always thought that the biggest single detriment to kids leaning is the home environment. The kids will respect education if the parents do.

The Question:

Who are considered that Top Ten all-time greatest woman athletes? Those who contributed the most to women in sports. I’ll be interested to finding the answer myself.

Believe it or not it is time to start planting the bulbs that give us those bright blooming days of spring. Those yellow days of a daffodil spring; the softness of hyacinths abloom; the vivid colors of tulips that catch you eye. And this year it is more important than ever. It appears that many homebound during Covid turned to gardening for fresh air and mental fitness. and it is expected that bulbs could be in short supply. So for North Easterners who need to plant before the first freeze, it is time.

If you think the news has been loaded with BS from all corners of the nation the past few months. You haven’t heard nothing yet. Wait till the caustic views of anti-ACB’s start spewing. Wait for the exaggerations and the outright lies. It will come. Yesterday for Instance, “Joe Biden set the tone which appears to be the nub of the Dem attack strategy “She will eliminate health care right in the middle of a pandemic.”  I will just laugh a lot at the outrageousness, but I will be saddened at how many people believe it .

How to start your firepit and avoid the high cost of shredding. Old tax reports and backup data. This also circumvents the possible nosiness of curious shredders.

The NIH announced new round of “Research supplements to promote diversity of Health-Related research.” Academic science labs would get extra “diverse researcher”. There were no listed relevant scientific qualifications that should be met, only the level of being diverse. And. in addition to the usual Diversity check off boxes like race and gender, they have added a new series of eligible victims – Former Homeless, peeps, those who grew up in Foster care, those who had been eligible for school lunches, or received WIC payments. There is also a point system where extra points are achieved by checking off more boxes -- like Hispanic Single mother who had paid for school lunches. That would. launch the person to the top of the qualifying heap. You can read this story in the Saturday WSJ by Heather MacDonald. The title of her article is, “Woke science is an experiment certain to fail.’ Let’s hope.

We just passed the last weekend for the former hometown AAA Baseball team, the Pawtucket Red Sox, known affectionately throughout the state as the Pawsox. This was a 50-year institution. It is just the latest example of politics over practicality. Just another day when Rhode Island thought small, another day when they lost a part of its soul.

Covid is changing things and creative minds will leap past the negativity and make it happen for the better.

The Answer:

There are several lists for best women athletes of all time. Tis list has at #10, Basketball player Lynette Woodward. At #9 we have Annika Sorenstam followed by Nadia Comaneci, Bonnie Blair and Florence Griffin Joyner #5 is Martina Navratilova and at #4 Serena Williams. The top three are Mia Hamm, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and At #1, the great athlete who may have started all for women, “The Babe” – Babe Didrikson Zaharias. Another list has the same Top Three but adds Lottie Dod, Lisa Leslie and Danika Patrick. A third list has as the top Three – JJ-Kersee, The Babe and Martina. That third list also adds Steffi Graff and Billie Jean.

We got to live in our own worlds and not where the politicians what to take us.

I’m feeling pretty darn great today. Join me.

Melted butter dripping down delicious local corn is a nice image to leave you with today.
