RI presents a good example of the vagaries in Covid case counting. Because of a rising number of RI cases which are outside minimum limitations set by nearby states, RI h citizens have been banned for entry into Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. But the increase in RI Cases is clearly due to increased cases of positive Covid tests found in College students coming from Ma, Ct, NJ and NY. Irony at its best!

There no question that Fauci has become a super celeb in America. But I have always been cautious about blindly accepting the pronouncements of celebrities.

Last week were 13-3 which improves out record to 22-10 (69%) Tonight’s game doesn’t seem to stimulate my senses – Jax at Miami. but it is intriguing. Miami is supposed to be improved but is 0-2. I’m going for the upset here -- Dolphins. I don’t often start with the hugest game of the week, but this one has so many possibilities that I can’t wait – KC versus Baltimore. Patrick Mahomes Against Lamar Jackson. Yikes! I’m not going to belabor this. Somehow, I feel that Baltimore is the better team. That’s my pick. The other so-called glamour games are Buff-LAR, Pitt-Houston, Tenn-Minn, Atlanta-Chi, TB-Denver, Seattle-Dallas and NO—GB. I root for Buff, but I think LAR will take them this week. Houston is struggling, but it will be too tough to begin a comeback against tough as usual Pitt. The Titans are 2-0 and the Vikes are 0-2. I’ve picked the Vikes two times, and I’m picking them again. I’m crazy. Chi is 2-0 and Atlanta has been surprising I’m picking the Falcons. The GOAT Tom Brady has always played bad against Denver. but TB has the better team than The Broncos minus Von Miller. I like Seattle over Dallas as two great QB’s Russel Wilson and Dak Prescott face off. And I like GB to take New Orléans in this other glamour game.

 

Of the rest of the games, I like San Fran over the New York Football Giants, Washington over Cleveland, the Bengals to maul the Eagles, Indy to take the Jets, The Chargers to lose to Carolina and Arizona to take Detroit, I had hopes for the Lions this year, but I’m not seeing it, again. That leaves my beloveds against a strong Las Vegas Raiders. The Pats looked good on Sunday night and I think they are playing quite well. They will find a way to slow Las Vegas, And besides, they are home and have better pumped n fake crowd noise.

 

A very observant reader suggests that the slow demos of American values and culture began that day when Sunday became just another shopping day. When the glitzy malls became the churches That a day with family didn’t matter. I agree

 

I have some Viking heritage and I resent Minnesota having football team named after my ancestors. I feel diminished. That the world sees us as ogres. Scourgers of the earth. Minnesota Scandinavians sounds nice. Or the Ice Fishers.

Bonus: While that was the happy childhood days tale, maybe the wealthy Hurst heiress wasn’t so happy in the Symbionese Liberation Army.

A lot of people, adults too, watched Howdy Doody in the early days of the tube because there weren’t that may shows on TV. Milton Berle and Howdy were the bigs. Then you had to find a neighbor who had a TV in 1947.

I generally mute the first10 minutes of Network National news because it’s generally the same old stories with new Molotov cocktails and far too many angary people. I’m tired of angry people. Especially when they never listen anyhow.
