Today's Tids Issue 4,732

Hear Us:

I’m against picketing, but I don’t know how to show it.” –Mitch Hedberg

Will Donald Trump have an “Aw Shucks” moment and accept his Peace Prize nomination with deep humility? That’s the funniest thing I have ever written.

Millions upon millions of very intelligent people will vote for Trump despite his obvious annoyances and human deficiencies. Do you know why? Because the alternative views of America espoused by the left seeping into the Dem party do not comprehend where the USA has been or see the potential of where it can draw upon a magnificent past to forge ahead under new parameters. We see the rise of a louder voice that appears intent on destroying what America has always been – a leader in human understanding, equal opportunity; a leader in protecting free societies throughout the globe; an economic power that raises all levels of society, each with an unbound chance to be reach the pinnacle, regardless. A nation of independent self-determined people. Too many people today pick at the scabs, failing to see beyond into the heart of a vast accepting people that has given so much and asked for so little.

As I watch this new generation try to rewrite history, one thing of which I am sure…it will be misspelled and have no punctuation.

The Question:

Name five Hugh Grant movies.

The Headlines:

--Markets Open Higher Grow Stronger Into Mid-day; Magnitude Of Recent Market Rise And Downturn May Be Result Of, “Options Market Swanigan’s”; Tech Businesses Still Very Strong Despite Abrupt Fall.

--Covid Spikes At Newly Opened Campuses Continue To Alter Planned Live Classes.

--AstraZeneca Pauses Covid Vaccine Trial.

--Trump To Reduce Troops In Iraq To 3,000.

--Fires Continue To Consume West; Oregon Now Under Fire.

--7 Shot, Killed In Large Illegal Marijuana Processing Operation In Southern California; Killings At Riverside “Pot Ranch” Appear To Be Part of Organized Crime Operation.

--New Jersey Coast Rocked By Earthquake.

Vegans are probably ok people, if they didn’t look with scorn down upon those who like Cheetos.

Some are concerned that the recent free fall the market is a prelude to a catastrophic “DotCom Bubble” all over again. But as several professionals have said ,the only thing common between is now and the 2000 disaster is that tech stocks are involved, But this time, the tech Stocks are solid companies, central to society and the economy, with good revenue and earnings which will continue to grow.

I saw a column titled, “The Electoral College will destroy America.” I think Exactly 180 degrees opposite.

Do you know what makes life more difficult than it should be these days? All of that electronic tech stuff they pile into cars.

Some are saying that Trump’s messages aren’t connecting to his faithful as they had in the past because it’s harder to hate Joe than Hillary. Lots of people really didn’t like Hillary a lot, but Joe, he’s just is too insert to be hated.

I hear some public people backtracking now saying “with all of this new evidence I have a different view of Kaepernick.” I don’t. I know that denigrating the American flag which stands for America itself is never justifiable no matter how many NY Times columns weasel away the truth.

45% of some pretty aware people answering a survey said it is possible to see, hear or feel a Ghost. I have no comment. But, I do know I keep on losing my glasses.

There is a good possibility that NFL ratings could be down. And boycotting them because of flag kneeling will be one reason along with Covid. If the aim is for unity and understanding, dissing the flag is not the way to achieve it.

If I understood puts and calls, I wouldn’t be writing the Tids1

Oldies but Punnies (Paraprosdokians and Aphorisms too), Department:

--Did you hear about the cheese factory explosion in France? It’s awful. Da brie is everywhere.

--Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

--I think my neighbor is stalking me as she’s been Googling my name on her computer. I saw it through my telescope last night.

The Answer:

I like Hugh Grant. #10 on the HG best List is “Music and Lyrics”. (A critic says that tis Rom Com it’s worth watching because of the “Best Onscreen musical number ever – including those of Astaire and Kelly). #9 is “Maurice” which is followed at #8 by “The Remains of the Day”. Going down to #1 we be have #7 “Sense and Sensibility”, then Bridgit Jones Diary, “About a Boy”, “Florence Foster Jenkins”, the very nice “Notting Hill” and at #2 “Paddington”. At #1, and where it all started, is “Four Weddings and a Funeral. Try a Hugh Grant binge when Netflix and the rest run dry.

Well, tomorrow the Tids NFL Pickers will be making their predictions. But it won’t be about how many kneel or what kinds of signs they have written on their backs. It will be about football, pure and simple.

“If lessons are to be learned in defeat, as they say, our team is really getting a great education.” – Football Coach Murray Warmath.

“I like to take a toothpick and throw it in the forest and say, “You’re home!” –Mitch Hedberg
