The morning that turned into night.

Today's Tids Issue 4.734

God Bless America:

We are going to be asked often today to, “Never Forget”. As if we could ever forget the surprise attack, the devastation, the horror of falling bodies, the disgust at barbaric atrocities against innocents. The inferno, the desperation of people entrapped. No, it is a day we will never forget. Never forget. But some people will. Some people will try to rewrite the history of a vivid event which is real, so embedded in our minds. But I will never forget. And I know tens of millions of people will never forget, And tens of millions of people will teach their children about the indiscriminate effects from anger and hatred within some people. That the children and everybody understand that hatred and anger in a small group does not reflect upon the whole of a people. But I will never forget. I will be on guard. We don’t know what the next enemy will look like. But we know in one way or another they will come. And we will unite in strength.

Whet one plane stuck, and then another, I was getting ready leave RI with the family for mid coast Maine. Of course, we all sat stunned for a moment. Now saddened we moved on. And what we all remembered most as we drove up that coastal highway was the immediate patriotism we saw. The signs, mechanical, painted flashing lights, lined old Route One saying, “God Bless America” And God Bless America again and again. We were living the horror while se in the rebirth of fierce American Unity. We saw the determination of these old Mainers here and knew good people in town across America would be coming together strong and resilient. Resolute. To move forward from disaster, from hatred. The tears would never stop but the hope for being sure it never happened again would become part of our nation’s core. God Bless America.

Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 Pilot Jason Dahl: “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is o time for hate.”

The Question:

A new survey by UBS and their strategists led by Bhanu Baweja have found what investors consider the most important factors for the stock market going forward. What are the top four?

The Headlines:

--Nation Honors 911 Victims And Heroes; A Nation Remembers What Should Never be Forgotten.

--Federal US Judge Orders 24 Current and Former Saudi Officials To Be Available To Testify Of Possible Knowledge Leading Up To 911 Attacks

--Stock futures Point Higher;

Harry Truman had a quote that reflects well on the remembrance of 911, and also on the chaos we are experiencing today: “America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.”

I wonder how a separate national song for one race played in parallel with the Stars Bungled Banner that is integral to fusion of all under one flag is considered a step toward unity?

BTW, I thought last night’s football game didn’t seem unusual at all. The players played hard and the crowd and game sound effects were not over done or interruptive. Critics will write negative reviews comparing this Covid necessity game style with the past only because that’s what critics do – look for something wrong to cutinize. Sports Talk shows will raise it to a level of ongoing annoyance.

Just to clarify my Sturgis comments from yesterday. I had rejected a widely circulated the report about 200+K cases as being weird at best, and an outright falsehood in reality. My comments were based on real Dakota’s N&S states where internal statistics have shown a significantly meaningful measurable rise since the event.

Happy Birthday to the Queen of Rockland Maine!

I like the festive look of outdoor dining on city streets. I’d like to see it continue after Covid. If they can block off streets for skinny bike riders, what would be so hard about designating plenty of space for chunky gourmands.

As you can see. I’ve been into Mitch Hedberg this week. So, here’s one to finish off the week. “I don’t have a girlfriend. I just know a girl who would get really mad if she heard me say that.”

I’d like to write more Tidlets today, but somehow my thoughts are down on Wall Street in New York City, back on the darkened day of September 11, 2001. I can’t escape remembering. God Bless America.

The Answer:

Number one factor overwhelmingly is the Fed and Congress and Monetary and fiscal stimulus. Next considerably lower in importance is “Earnings and Guidance” from companies. Third is the US/China Policy and trade war. 4th is number of coronavirus cases. So, that’s good. At least it is partially controllable by policy and not just whims. That is, if the Repub Senate is still the Firewall. at the congressional level.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-b-o-d-y!!.
