Under-running the foundation.

Today's Tids Issue 4.735

Keeping the base:

They say there are more 18th Century homes my town than in any other town or city in the Country. I walk these streets, and frankly love the classic architecture. What is also amazing is the stone foundations upon where they rest. Yet I wonder, how sturdy is the cement or binder of the times after centuries. How have the earth movements and winter upheavals dislodged the masterpieces of mason’s past? What is really happening beneath a foundation that looks so strong. And then I feel a sadness, as see leftist ideas burrowing into the foundations of our great Republic. Homes atop great foundation are altered and updated by the changing times, sometimes for the good and other times not. But our unique Foundation must remain secure, a brilliantly conceived foundation what would accommodate needs for a future, while not sacrificing the profound principles and human beliefs. It’s one thing to adapt to change, it’s another to give up time tested ideologies. I worry as I walk these streets about the preservation of a past that has provided for a great today.

Front porches are aglow with mums. Soon we’ll be seeing cornstalks and bittersweet. And the pumpkins. Those big orange bruisers and assorted other gourdes. The feel of Fall is coming. But today, it is just in the air. That’s where it all starts.

“Tech Laden Indexes”. How often have we heard that over the last several months? As in, what are we missing? It’s like in a hospital giving aperient a punklike that immediately masks the symptoms. The patient feels good but with the pain gone, you may never find the underlying cause. Which just keeps gnawing away.

After the NFL had performed 44,510 Covid tests, there has only been one player and 7 NFL team employees found positive. Maybe the colleges should be looking at professional sports for an answer. Of course, it’s all about the discipline of students. And probably the abstinence from beer and more.

The Question:

Who was Neil Kinnock?

I’m feeling for the Police. That recent attack against police in LA was despicable. But what was really horrendous were the marchers at the hospital shouting beneath some foreign appearing flag, “Let them Die”. One of these liberal Mayor will have to wake up some day and say Enough! Tis division between having law and supporting ideologies just has to stop.

I thought I’d say a few things about love. I woke Saturday to a beautiful day, and that’s what came to mind, people falling in love. How all of a sudden Fall is here, Fall the new beginning after the non-stop often hectic activity of summer. I was thinking that it must be easy to fall in love in the fall. After all it is peaceful, the comforting shadows are long and the scenery goes right to the heart. And, we all know that Spring is when “a young man’s fancy turns to love”. When the northern hemisphere is in rebirth, when the flowers bloom again; there is just no way for any sane human being not feeling a happy heart as the days grow brighter and longer. In winter the special holidays spur emotions. Valentine’s Day forces you to love whether or not you want to. But what about summer, amidst all the hubbub and the crowds and sweltering heat. I’m thinking there must be an amazing calm within people who find that special something within each other during the summer. A calm that blurs the outside and only lets one heart see another, Well, that’s it from the old Love philosopher. Funny what a sunny September day can do for you.

More than likely, I don’t know what I’m talking about.

If trying to understand politics were only that easy.

The day before the restaurant had as their special “Italian Wedding Soup”, it was “Italian Pre-Nup Soup”. Thanks to Mother Goose and Grimm.

The scary thing about the RI primaries is that the left wing of the Dem party, the aggressive progressives ran roughshod over the traditional moderate incumbent Dems. It’s one thing for this state to have nary a Repub in sight, But, it’s another when the left has the good ole clear thinking Dems of the past on the run. We are doomed.

A reader wants to invent a smoke detector that shuts off when you yell, “I’m just cooking!”.

There are over 800 varieties of Tree Frogs. The things we don’t know. But, somebody will have an opinion about it.

On Saturday morning I play great symphonies on my CD player and I sit there and conduct them. And I think, what if I had studied music. I coulda bin standing at the conductor’s podium at Royal Albert Hall. The things you can miss by following society’s whims.

The world gets weirder and weirder. At a well-known college in the region, last Friday a young woman reported that while walking at night near campus she was nearly abducted by a man in a white van. She reported the incident to the Police and the Security operation at the college. She told them it was a light skinned Hispanic appearing man, which the security officials dutifully wrote in their report. Somebody sent the report to the College Admin and the Chief of Security was suspended for 3 weeks – because he wrote the word “Hispanic” in the report. So much for using every possible tool to catch sexual predators!

I can’t take it anymore.

A little piece of heaven returned into my life yesterday when I sat and watched my Patriots, and followed by the Brady Bucs game. I have a lot of heaven in my life, but the return of NFL football is a nice addition. And, the Pats looked better than I expected.

The Answer:

Neil Kinnock was a brilliant British orator and while running as Labour Labor Party candidate against Margaret Thatcher he gave a brilliant Speech from which Joe Biden borrowed key phrases as his own without attributions. So, there you go.

Well, football is back, so that is one thing that seems to be working again.

See you tomorrow.
