Covid Country

Today's Tids Issue 4,748

Isolation or Debate:

Who would ever have thought that President Trump and the First lady would be the Poster children for Covid-19?

I saw a dwarf climbing down a prison wall. I thought to myself, that’s a little condescending.

I saw the following phrase this morning: “Civilization requires collective commonsense.” If I interpret that correctly, it tends to mean that single sided activism will get us nowhere, that communities and nations have always fared better when people with differences met together and spoke and listened. There is always common ground somewhere, if hatred ad bitterness doesn’t bury it.

The Question:

Morning talk show host Kelly Ripa turns Fifty today. What did she do before her meteoric rise to stardom on the Regis Philbin-Kelly Show? Bonus: There was newspaper feature which become a popular TV program – “Believe it or Not”. Who was the originator of that?

The Headlines:

--President And First Lady Test Positive For Covid-19; President Feeling Mild Symptoms; Aide Hope Hicks Who Traveled With Trump Showed Symptoms Before Testing Positive.

--Stocks Fall On News Of Trump Positive Test; 20,000 Amazon Front Line Workers Have Tested Positive for Covid.

--Wildfire Fatigue In NPA Areas Has People Considering Moving Out For Good; New Weather Conditions Of Wind And Heat Could Surge Raging Glass Fire More.

One reason I have enjoyed getting a haircut so my barber of 20 years was our conversations in the fall about our NE Pats. Yesterday he said he is giving up on the NFL because of their disrespect for the military. I’m hearing that more and more from people of all interests and all genders races heights and weights.

Chicken farms have been banned from being within 1,000 yards of a school due to repeated foul language.

Since what time in history did ideology become more important than friendship?

It appears that consumer spending while slowing a little in September is still active. But it has been noticed that it may be the result of people drawing down the savings accumulated in the Spring. Does that point to an eventual increase in credit card debt at a time when jobs are being lost as warm weather in northern states ebbs? And companies feel pressure from accumulated costs of doing business in the Covid era? Just a thought or two on the second day of October.

Munich, Frankfort, Paris and Amsterdam are four cities most at risk to a housing bubble. In North America, Toronto, while not at the same danger point as Euro-cities, is in a jeopardy position. One issue that is at work but hasn’t yet affected the US hot selling cities is the decline in rents. Low mortgage rates and strong rental opportunities has been pushing the markets in Europe and here. But no more in Europe. And we could be looking at the same thing. See NYC.

Instead of labeling everything, lumping things together, we should consider every situation as being independent of one another and not adaptable under some national ideological boogie man. Sorry ideological people – I meant every huperson.

Of concern about Trump and the virus is that he falls into a dangerous category of “male over 70, who appears to be overweight.” But it is pointed out that this is not a death sentence at all as many I that category recover with minimal intrusion.

I heard a lady call into a morning radio show I listen to. She said, “I don’t like Trump at all, but I think we should all step back and say a prayer for the President of the United states and his family.” That’s what a rational society would do, she said.

A local community in RI is similar to many local communities around the nation. We are talking about communities with dominate Democrat populations who voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and some say it should go that way again this year. So, what’s with Democrats. Well, what’s interesting about these towns and cities, an analyst says that this really points to the real spit in the party -- the old-line Dems who believe in hard work not taking but giving to America, family and community and who have nothing in common with the fast-growing liberal left wing.

The Answer:

Believe it or not Kelly Ripa has been co-host on the Former Regis and Kelly Show Now with Ryan) for nearly 20 years. Before that blockbuster opportunity she gained fame as Haley Vaughn On the soap All My Children (Where she met her husband) and as Faith Fairfield on the show Hope & Faith. Bonus: It was Ripley’s “Believe it or Not” and Robert L. Ripley was the man.

Have a great weekend…E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
