Glorious snow days.

Today;s Tids the Season Issue 4,801

On Glistening Plains and Icy Breaking Waves:

I feel like sled-riding down a hill

To relive that childlike thrill,

As a kid when I was little!

But now, are my bones too brittle?

Nah, I’ll do it, relive that memory,

And risk a visit to the infirmary.

I love to think back to the days of yore, when snowed filled the generally unplowed streets and yards of my neighborhood. I wonder how many global warmers thinking back to then remember like me that there was so much more snow, fluffy and way deeper, forgetting that we were only 2 to 3 foot tall.  “When I was a kid…”

The daughter is surprised to see her Mom upside down doing a handstand, and shouts Wow!

So you think Charlie Brown has a problem with Lucy? That’s only half of his dilemma. The round-headed kid who can’t catch a break has a problem with all women. In a ranking of Best Christmas movies, men apparently wore their empathy on their sleeve voting the CB Christmas at #4, while women were three times more likely to vote it down, pushing it to the bottom of the list. Hey men, if you are looking for a date, Chuck the Charlie Brown shirt.

This hack job on the USA government agencies is looking seriouser and seriouser. The powers that be know now that it is seriously deep into US government and private sector systems. It is the most devastating incursion ever into CyberUS and “…we don’t know what networks they are in, how deep they are, what access they have, what tools they left.” “There are huge unknowns,” says Harvard’s Bruce Schneier. And the biggest problem, say experts, is that there simply are not enough skilled threat-hunting teams. I have been calling for building up Cyber defense for several years now. That cyber-attacks could be more disabling than any human against human physical action.

Scary.

Before culture destruction became so popular, we would have been spending today celebrating America. Yes, 400 years ago today, the Pilgrims came ashore to Plymouth to establish one of the key societies upon which the USA grew. Today should be USA Roots Day, but instead the news is about Ariana Grande engaged to a man she may not this time cast aside. So folks, that’s about it in America today.

The Question:

What are the best Christmas movies of all time?

Happy Summer, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y! Today the days begin to get longer. Feel It! Get out your bathing suits.

They are now moving Christmas to mid-January. When traveling to foreign countries, Santa has to quarantine for 14 days. That leave plenty of extra time for gift buying procrastination.

Lots of composers have written music for Romeo and Juliette, but for me the best was by Hector Berlioz.

Just in case you are wondering, the numbers are in. Reactions to the vaccine due to allergies is 1 in 100,000. Don’t let anecdotal evidence skew the confidence.

Notre Dame got clobbered yesterday by Clemson. Ohio State had a really tough time against Northwestern. And it was nip and tuck between Florida and mighty Alabama. And yesterday the mahoffs of the college championship series sat to determine the final four. It was looking easy for the big cheeses entering Saturday afternoon, but afterwards the task became how to rationalize putting in the four teams with the potential highest TV ratings, rather than lesser-known teams that played their tails off all year and went undefeated. But they got their cake and ate it too. All they did was keep the original four and move Notre Dame from 2nd to 4th. Some were feeling that Oklahoma had put themselves in a position to knock out one of the four. To me, this now calls for an 8-team playoff. It is the fair way, Let the Cincinnati’s and Coastal Carolinas prove or disprove their mettle. It is time.

I’ve been emphasizing saying Merry Christmas to people working in stores and businesses, and I see their eyes light up like they’re thinking, thank God I don’t have to say Happy Holidays.

I am now what I have always been, but never knew it.

Older and middle-aged people put the Original Grinch at #3 on the all-time Christmas movie list. But younger people have it down at #43. It is most likely due to the really bad sequel starring Jim Carey. That sequel, I am told, even ruined the idea of Grinch for older people too. But when they thought about it, they still had found memories of the original

Every family has one weird relative. If you don’t know who it is, then it is probably you.

The Dems seem to be playing the old “deplorables” game again and it is making Repubs really mad. And that is something because Repubs have trouble getting mad.

The least popular Christmas song is Abigail’s’ Song. Among the most disliked songs are N Sync’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”, “Grandma got run over by a reindeer” and Ariana Grande’s “Santa tell me”.

In a national poll it was found that Dems are more likely to vote for Turkey for Christmas Dinner while Repubs go for ham. I personally like Roast Prime Rib with Yorkshire pudding.

The Answer:

#1 is the original Boris Karloff “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Next is National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation”, and then “Elf”, “Home Alone”, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (Thanks Ladies), “A Christmas Story”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “The Santa Clause” and at #10, “Die Hard” (?). At 11 we have “Frosty the Snowman” followed by (Original w/Natalie Wood and Maureen O”Hara) “Miracle on 34th Street”, “Muppet Christmas Carol”, “Grinch” Sequel, “Polar Express”, “Scrooged”, “Nightmare before Christmas”, “White Christmas” and “A Christmas Carol”. I think that Christmas Carol is a must-see Christmas take every year. Thee song White Christmas was originally premiered in the 1942 Crosby/Astaire movie “Holiday Inn”. A sequel of sorts, White Christmas, was a romantic comedy starring Bing, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen and appeared in 1954. It was basically the same story, and featured the song “White Christmas”.

If you want to bring the USA together, have everybody get out there on[RH1] [RH2] [RH3] [RH4]  their Main Streets and in town parks, and sing White Christmas. It seems everybody regardless of demographic differences, loves it. year after year after year.
