Green from the Heart:

Today's O'Tids Issue 4,862

Raise a amber glass:

Do you think that Congress passed the “Covid” Pork Pie in honor Saint Patrick’s Day? you know, Green, Green, and more Green. I put on my best greens early this morning, and congress was furthest from my Celtic mind. I was only seeing happy smiles and glistening eyes reflecting rainbows and leprechauns adancin’; and four-leaf clovers upon the emerald hills. I am excited just by the spirits of the day and I don’t need several gallons of Guinness or Irish whiskey to feel myself drifting away. It’s just the Irish faces beaming that makes my day.

Shamrock: A fake Irish stone.

In addition to plenty of barrels ready to tap, the hope for today is that at 2Pm EDT the Fed will come out bullish on the stimulus supported economy but keep interest rate policies at near 0% levels. hey should keep the green flowing OSP day, I’d say.

The Question:

What are the ten most popular Irish surnames? Bonus: How can the Irish tell it’s summer?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Confused Awaiting Key Monetary Decisions From Fed, And Resurgence Of Treasury Yields; Commodities Appear To Be Entering Long Term Bull Market.

--Biden Admin Punishes 24 Chinese Officials For Their Part In Crippling Hong Kong Democracy, Autonomy; Action Expected To Create Cool Environment At Upcoming Alaska Meetings.

--Southern Border Problems Becoming Major Headache for Biden And New Admin.

--Senator Menendez Calla Senator Ron Johnson Racist On Senate Floor.

--Biden Supports Return To Talking Filibuster; McConnell Warms Of Scorched Earth Senate If Filibuster Is Removed.

--Georgia Massage Parlor Shootings Leaves 8 Dead.

--Biden Says Putin Will Pay A Price For Attempting To Undermine US Elections.

--Biden Says Cuomo Should Resign If Investigations Support Accusations.

After last year’s Covid cancellations, town fathers gave the Green light to Saint Patrick’s Day.

Biden Says He Will Do Something Really To Putin For Undermining US Elections. I think mail-in voting undermines US elections.

A bunch of Irish folks singing happy songs from their loving harts at funeral on a misty hillside are far more entertaining to me than thee Grammys.

How about Meghan Markel for Prez 2024? First Princess President.

The Irish will be making a lot of pour decisions today.

50% of unvaccinated Trump supporters say they will never get vaccinated. That is one dumb idea.

Calling somebody a racist has totally lost its credibility. Racism isn’t laughable, but the way it is being used today throughout society is.

I’m thinking -- Is the Green New Deal foreign aid for Ireland?

In the year since Covid changed the way we lived and Wall Street in April went defensive (Cash, Healthcare, Staples, Techs, Bonds), it has now made a complete flip back to Cyclicals (Energy, Industrials, Banks UK, EuroZone and, Commodities)

The Answer:

According to the “Irish Post”, the top Irish surnames are Murphy, Kelly, Byrne, T Ryan, O’Brien, Walsh, O’Sullivan, O’Conner, Doyle and McCarthy. Another “World Wide” list has it starting with #10 – O’Reilly, O’Neill, O’Conner, Ryan, Byrne, Obrien, Walsh, O’Sullivan, Kelly and Murphy. (Here’s a list of 100 so you can check for your name in it. Note, none of my Irish family names are in the top 100. https://www.irelandbeforeyoudie.com/irish-surnames-top-100-last-names-family-names-ranked/

) Bonus: The Irish can tell when it is summer because the rain gets warmer!

What’s an Irish day without a good drinking song. I always liked this one (Sinead O‘Conner as has nice version of this “The Parting Glass”)
