You can always find something good.

Today's Tids Issue 4,868

Optimism Pays:

The great convergence, Department:

In little over a weeks’ Time we will have experienced, Easter morn opening day for trout fishing, the start of the baseball season and the first day of play at my Local favorite Golf course. Who says there is no such thing as heaven!

And, this is no April Fool’s joke.

I think one of worst things we do in America is disparage some entertainer’s true talent because we don’t like thier politics.

You know, people born in 1991 are now 30 years old. I wonder how many of them are named after the cast of “Friends”?

The Question:

Attention, Attention, “Who stole my….” Those were words of Captain Morton of ship that was at the center of the great Movie Mr. Roberts. What was stolen and what was the name of the ship.

The Headlines:

--Tech Slump Driving Markets Lower For Third day; Some Investors Skeptical Of Powell’s Assurances; US Consumer Spending Appears To Be Picking Up After Stimulus; New Jobless Claims Fall To A New Pandemic Low Of 684K.

--Clearing Suez Canal Of Jammed Japanese Ship Could Take Up To 3 Weeks; i56 Ships Await Passage.

Tat list of “Best movies based on Plays” (Yesterday’s Q) had at least two notable absences as brought to my attention by one of our more astute readers: Mr. Roberts and The Caine Mutiny. Who can forget Jack Lemon as Ensign Pulver and the Greats, Henry Fonda as Roberts, William Powell as Doc and James Cagney as the Captain Morton. “Caine Mutiny, perhaps more critically acclaimed, starred Bogart, Jose Ferrer, Van Johnson and Fred McMurray. BTW a another well-known play that became a decent movie was “Same Time Next Year.” I wrote the list makers a email saying they are making me look bad. They probably don’t care.

Today’s First Biden bearing of his soul will, if softball pitchers aren’t leading the questioning, most likely focus on questions about Pork Pack, Southwest Boarder, Covid progress, why no credit To predecessor on vaccine development, why he hasn’t become the unity president he promised not involving Repubs in key decisions  and exec orders, why is it a good idea to raise taxes while economy’s recovering, how will you find jobs for displaced workers on Keystone, and how can we pay for the $3 trillion sources say you are planning following the Big Pork Pack.

Cows Buffalos and Elephants tell us it is impossible to lose weight chewing on grass.

Some movie theaters are creeping into reopening and others are just closing for good. I’m hearing that if the pandemic wasn’t tough enough on them, the movie producers are by duel releasing new movies to streaming. Good companies have always protected their distribution. But, we’re talking about Hollywood here.

It takes me longer to write the Tids these days because my “n” and “e” stick badly and I have to go back and correct all of those absent letters. The fact that I can’t spell doesn’t help either. Nor does the fact that my mind gets ahead of my fingers.

If you're bad at haggling, you'll end up paying the price.

The Answer:

What was stolen was Morton’s Prized Palm Tree which Mr. Roberts Threw overboard when Morton went back on promises. The name of the ship was Reluctance” but fondly called “The Bucket.”

Bono and The Edge walk into a Dublin bar and the bartender says, "Oh no, not U2 again."

I’ll be back tomorrow if I don’t get stoned.

I mean, for that pun!
