The national labyrinthine.

Today's Tids Issue 4,867

To deep for me:

I wish I was angrier so I could start off the Tids with a maniacal rant that would generate expanded my readership. But I’m kind of a Kumbaya kind of guy who understands the societal irritants of the other side, preferring to take kindly to their convoluted reasoning. Yes, life is about patience, unless you are some wild eye leftists trying to bring down America. I like being kind and having my heart full of love. Did you hear that Prez JB is willing to forego nonpartisanship for the implementation of his socialist ideas for the greater good his side of the population? Yes, it is nice to be calm and fair and understanding. Why do I need to be controversial just to gain a few readership points? I will just be naively lovable and accept vicious attacks upon the core of my sacred principles. Yup, it’s love all the way for this old guy.

In in a retrospective, officials are changing the name of Covid-19 to Covid-20, to reflect the average 20 extra pounds gained by Americans during the year.

I don’t have any idea of how the Red Sox outfield will look this year and it makes me sad. So far I have har we have a centerfielder named a Alix Verdugo who prefers right field, and according to baseball scouts is a much better right fielder. We seem to have a left fielder who would be better playing 2nd base (Where we don’t have a number 1 candidate); and probably won’t be in Left field very long anyhow. For rightfield we have a TB Rays cast-aside named Hunter Renfroe who hits with power, but isn’t as good a fielder as the centerfielder Verdugo who should be there in the first place.

Sorry I put my Red Sox feelings and frustrations above the Q/Headlines Department. But it is not only worrisome for this fan but it kind if mimics prevailing attitudes about anything being sacred anymore in our new progressive society. I always thought loving our baseball heroes was an America right. Or at least, an American delight.

The Question:

This is kind of an interesting question. What are the best movies based on Broadway plays?

I think the new Ford Bronco is an interesting looking SUV. Lines are good and the design has substance.

Basketball and sports commentator Charles Barkley has a pet peeve. Its people who diminish the value of a free education as part of a scholarship for Athlete’s. Most who play in college have but a fraction of chance of making it to the professional level basketball, Their educations worth a couple of hundred thousand dollars are invaluable, to say the least, for a their futures; worth far more than few thousand dollars they might be paid after a proposed overhaul of the current “Student/Athlete” NCAA system. Paying athletes in college could easily corrupt the fragile concept of a level playing field in intercollegiate sports.

One nice thing that I will miss about the end of winter, it keeps my Diet Coke or Pepsi icy cold in the garage.

How things Change: Auto Production used to be dependent on Steel production. Now plants are closing because of a global chip shortage. Buy AMD. You know chips – the reason why your local mechanic can no longer fix your car.

Historian Michael Beschloss indicated after a White House Meeting That Biden is ready to toss aside the filibuster to “Go Big” with plans to “reengineer” America in the small window he has. His objectives may even dwarf the efforts FDR and LBJ. “People close to Biden tell us he’s feeling bullish on what he can accomplish, and is fully prepared to support the dashing of the Senate’s filibuster rule to allow Democrats to pass voting rights and other trophy legislation for his party.” It could amount to a $5 Trillion “overhaul” of America. Beschloss lists four reasons for Biden’s Confidence: “He has full control of Congress. Party Activists are egging him on. Strong positive economy winds are at his back. He is popular in the polls.” Thanks DT, for losing Georgia for us.

It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes an entire vineyard to homeschool one.

A faithful reader wrote yesterday, “Change is painful.

Monotony gets boring.

Can’t decide what is harder🥴”

The Answer:

#1 Movie based on a Play is Streetcar Named Desire. #2 is Amadeus followed by Casablanca, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Odd Couple, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Fences, Death of a Salesman, Arsenic and Old Lace and at #10, Glengarry Glen Ross. #11 was one of my favorites My Fair Lady. Going up to #20 we have at #12 Driving Miss Daisy, A Raisin in the Sun, Dracula, A Few Good Men, Wait Until Dark, Inherit the Wind, The Crucible, Steel Magnolias and at #20 Frost/Nixon. Another of my favorites Dial “M” for Murder is #33.

As we all know, Pinocchio’s nose grows when he tells a lie. So if he said “my nose will grow now” – if his nose does grow that would mean he wasn’t lying, but if he wasn’t lying, his nose wouldn’t grow. But then his statement would be a lie… so his nose would grow.. but then the statement wouldn’t be a lie… so his nose wouldn’t grow… Basically, his nose would have to grow to make Pinocchio’s statement not a lie, but then it can’t grow otherwise the statement would not be a lie. So, that’s basically how I see our divided society these days.
