Never ruin a good day with thoughts about a bad yesterday.

Today's Tids Issue 4,863

The Sun is Always Out:

For every single grey sky we feel,

There are more bright days to come

So many more that would heal,

Than those of gloom, without sun.

“An optimist is a person who thinks that a housefly is looking for a way to get out.” –Gorge Jaen Nathan.

It isn’t!

I’m, we’re, seeing signs now of yearlong stymied businesses sprinting back to a feeling of pre-germ normalcy. I’m also seeing perhaps a return to government restrictions at the height of their summer opportunities while there is a possibility of the virus spiking anew.

The cheapest ticket for the 4000 Boston Red Sox faithful who will be lucky enough to get into Fenway for opening day is about $500. And you don’t even get a $50 bag of peanuts with that!

An optimist is a Tids writer who thinks a bolt of lightning from the heavens above will strike his fingers and he will start to type something actually interesting that is not about Covid, Cuomo, Congress or cartels at the border.

The Question:

What are considered the best movies of the 70’s?

The Headlines:

--Markets Lower At Opening, Dow On Plus And Nasdaq Down Significantly During Day; Yield Surge Following Powell Post Comets Pulls Back Lowering tech; New Jobless Claims Move Back Up To 770,000.

--Russia Withdraws US Ambassador After President JB Calls Putin Killer; Putin Wishes New US President “Good Health”..

The left seems to be afraid of the truth from the right, because for many of them their only answer is to insult the brains of those In opposition.

There are many pessimists who got that way financing optimists.

I realize I don’t get as disturbed like most people in this country who get disturbed these days. But, yesterday my pristine morning walk on a beach became polluted as I walked past 3 big plastic coffee cups half buried at water’s edge. If society can’t get cleanliness right, how will it ever repair the bigger stuff.

While the pessimist and the optimist were arguing over the glass of beer, I drank it.

So far, my brackets are doing just fine. I’ll begin to get worried when they start playing.

An optimist is a person who jumps off a building and says, “So far, so good”.

The Answer:

Ok, let’s start at number10. 1970’s #10 was Blazing Saddles. 9 was Young Frankenstein (Steen?), and the onto Dirty Harry, The Godfather Part II, Apocalypse Now, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Alien, Godfather and Star Wars. #1 was Jaws. And I have to tell you that I took a while to work up courage to see Jaws. Or, was I in a bar somewhere? Some others in order going up were Rocky, The Exorcist, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Taxi Driver, Patton, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Animal House, Halloween, The Sting, Deliverance, American Graffiti, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The French Connection and #25 Escape form Alcatraz. I’m still trying to figure out why everybody liked Close Encounters so much.

I wish we had more movies like the Sting.

Why is Tom Brady so optimistic? He sees the football as half full.

I believe that as you get older you have figured out that more often than not things get better. And if you don’t watch the news, it never gets bad.
