Smilng Chuckles

Today's Tids Issue 4,900

Laughing in the morning means the comics are good:

Do you feel the lion? Yes, it is March first, a reawakening day to many in the Northeast who each year around this time actually believe that Winter is over. March is Mother Nature’s practical joke, not April first. It is muddy and windy and invariably we find ourselves dipping below freezing, and walking in snowdrifts. But there is hope, and this year maybe more so for older folks probably getting there second Covid shots. And there is too, happy Madness for college basketball fans (NCAA Tourney back this March?). And of course, it is the month where rivers are dyed green and so is the Beer. and around here sweet and creamy Zeppole’s rain supreme on March nineteen! So, while atmosphere improvement hopes maybe just a dream, the Irish and the pretenders will put a smile upon everybody’s faces. So, Happy March, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!

Nothing tops a plain pizza!

A major cable news network actually ran this headline: “Joanna Gaines reveals what tattoo she’ll get to commemorate her husband Chip when he dies.” What irrelevance hath God wrought upon our society?

Is investing in Sin the hew road to economic stability? Let’s face it, humans are easily tempted. To hold positions on human frailties is a new no-brainer winner. So, if the hottest new stocks are gambling and pot, and they make money as companies, and provide solid returns for investors, eventually more people will rationalize away the guilt over holding sin stocks, meaning the pot of people willing to discard their moral reluctance will multiply. It’s one of those inevitability things.

The Question:

Ok, I admit it. I was a fan of a TV program called Chuck. Once you got beyond the apparent absurdity of the program, it was filled with characters you could get to like. And a story that was at once romance and intrigue, and lots of human foibles. The two Leading Characters were Chuck the Nerdnick and Sarah Walker the savvy CIA agent, two unlikely characters who found something in each other. They were played by Zachary Levi ad Yvonne Strahovski. What are they doing now? Bonus: Before the “Big Chill”, there was a togetherness introspective movie called the “Four Seasons”. Name 4 of the six starring actors.

The Headlines:

--Stock Markets Zoom Back. Treasury Yield Increases Slow; J&J Adds To Vaccine Optimism; Stimulus Moving Froward.

--US Factories Surging; Activity Highest In Three Years; Construction Spending Up 1.7% To $1.521 Trill.

--Supreme Court To Hear Major Test Of Voting Rights Law; To Look At Voting Rights In Arizona; Will Look At Mail Voting, Misrepresented Precincts and Family Member Only Collection Of Ballots.

--J&J Shipping New V Covid Vaccine.

--Former French President Sarkozy Convicted Of Corruption.

--Myanmar Experiences Most Violent Day As People Surge Up Against Military.

--Germany’s Social Democrats Running On Platform Of Higher Taxes For Top Earners.

--Trump Says He Will Not Form Third Party.

I spent all day Saturday cleaning lint out of Laptop key board. Maybe they aren’t typos after all, but just a bunch of Lintos. Tedious.

I’m liking that “Queens Gambit” and Star Anya Taylor-Joy came up big at the Globes last night. Also that The Crown scored well across many categories. I see that Gillian Anderson made a comeback with a win for her work in the Crown. And Jodie Foster showing up again on the winner’s stage. I have always liked Jodie, and wondered where she went. (I didn’t like her as much as John Hinkley Jr. did) I had heard that Hamilton stars were ready to rake in the gold but it looks like Borat out shone them and everybody. Shitts Creek did well too. I have never watched thinking that any show with such a sophomoric title can’t possibly be funny. Those are just a couple of my observations.

I’ve stopped watching these award shows because I’m tired of being insulted by the Glitziness. I can always read lists of winners later. without having suffer through speeches.

I have noticed lately that many directors are now really into rediscovering Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” as background music for HBO or Netflix movies and series.

Napoleon may not have designed the coat he wore…But he did have a hand in it.

Do you think that if people learned how to stop littering that we may regain a society that respects others?

I don’t use Alexa, Siri, Bixby, Cortana or Assistant. I feel funny talking to machines.

Another season of The Voice begins tonight. As all you victims of the Tids Entertainment Division’s tedious “TV” reporting know, this Morning mess chews up a lot of paper revering songs and singers. And do you know why I bore you with this? Because I’m the editor, and I like to write about it. Media isn’t fair. Some readers would prefer that we switch the new revitalized America Idol. Maybe I’ll do both. Double the pain.

Did you see where the culture cancellers are calling for the banning Hyatt Hotels for hosting CPAC. The left doesn’t care if Businesses thrive as long as the Treasury’s printing presses wrok.

Did you hear about the Magician who decided to use trap doors in his act? It was just a stage he was going through.

The Answer:

Yvonne and Zachary, Sarah and Chuck, were recognized for several awards including TV Guide’s “Best Romantic Couple”. Yvonne went on to star in “Dexter”, “24: Live Another Day” and as Joy Waterford in “The Handmaids Tale” for which she received a Prime Time Emmy Nomination. Zachary has done quite well since as “Shazami” himself. Bonus: The romcom Four Seasons starred Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, Len Cariou, Jack Weston, Rita Moreno, Sandy Dennis and Bess Armstrong as the younger woman who stole Nick’s heart.

Scoop chocalotta, scoop chocalotta, scoop chocalotta…Scoop!

Smile!
