Today's Tids Issue 4,864

A two aspirin issue:

Well, today is officially the last day of Winter. So get out your bikinis and Speedos. Speedo!! I don’t think so.

The media lives off of controversy, so be careful not to get trapped in the depths of hysteria. Despite what Nietzsche thinks, reason still lives.

If you aren’t eating Zeppole’s today, your nowhere. The big Z’s are delectable cream or ricotta filled Italian Pastry delicacies which abound around now to hoer today, Saint Joseph’s day. This is the  week of the happy competition between Italian and Irish. I’ll take the Z over Corned Beef.  Think about that, two proud ethnic groups in a happy competition. At least, that is the way I remember it when I was growing up.

The Question:

Social Scientists tend to agree that there were three waves of liberalism that began changing the basic American concept of the Free-Market Economy that has brought us to the ramped progressivism where we are now. When did it begin, and what do you think they were? Bonus: What is the “Three Comma Club?

The Headlines:

--Techs And Nasdaq Recover; Dow Takes Big Hit; S&P Has First Weekly Decline.

Did you see where that guy who last night won $145,000 on Wheel of Fortune, gave it all away to charity! He was one of those corrupt, nasty capitalists.

“The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like and do what you’d rather not.” –Mark Twain,

New “Free’-Market Economy of today: Every single day in America, 1.9 million packages are stole off porches or from front of buildings.  Finally, a business plan that avoids government regulations.

According to news reports, a new RI senator is proposing that legislators where clothing that represents their constituencies -- like hoodies ad very casual wear as oppose to blue blazers ties that represent white America. And, it appears to be c gaining traction. Watch out for your grass roots. Grub care maybe necessary.

I’m going to study over the weekend “Critical Race Theory” (CRT). You may or may not have heard of it. It is an academic movement made up of civil-rights scholars and activists in the United States who seek to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race, and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice. CRT examines social and cultural issues as they relate to race, law, and social and political power. I think it is worth looking at to help everybody understand why what is a happening is happening, and what it will be precipitating for the future.

Reading Between the lines, Movie reviews.

Yes, we are back.  with movie reviews, Theaters closed abatua year ago.

--Atop my list is The Courier, a good ole’ cold war spy thriller based on a true event. It has all of the cool things that make espionage films interesting to watch. A good mystery about a British businessman working as a go between for MI-6 and Cia who hooks up with a Soviet Officer who is providing critical information to the west. I’ll be there.

--Happily, is a RomCom about a couple who after 14 years of marriage still can’t keep their hands off each other. While they are happy, it turns out that their friends don’t enjoy all of this public affection, and the couple worries about the loyalty of pals. Then a stranger appears and also a dead body. Adm questions. It might be Ok.

--A Danish movie, Food Club a has possibilities It is a comedy, drama about a woman whose husband walks out on Christmas Eve. Her life crumbles but she nicely assumes a bachelorettenesss an until we learn of her relationship with her daughter. She is generally a lost person living in the past who can’t forget her husband. But three friends say let’s learn how to cook in Italy. They learn how to redefine themselves, It is unlikely I will watch, but I hear it is Ok.

There will be a lot of catching up as I expect a lot more reeleases.

The Answer:

There were waves of progressive liberalism that tended to grow out of a movement to change the basic concept of Free Market America. The first one started about 1880 and to 1920. It took off with the election of the first real progressive Woodrow Wilson. Number two began with the FDR New Deal which brought government more to the lives of people, and of course the idea if a “Safety Net”. And then there was in the 1960s, partly the result of LBJ’s new Great Society which signaled the beginnings of the “Concept of Equality Radicalized.” It began with gender and race and it precipitated the societal conflict that is emerging to day.

Phew, I was much too heavy today.

Just remember that you are unique, just like everybody else.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
