Better?

  • Today's Tids Issue 5,598

    Morning Dew and Wet Feet:

I remember reading Sci Fi novels and books about the future where they focused on mind numbed populations following disingenuous leaders blindly. How could tha tever happen to independent thinking people, I wondered. And now I look at social media.

Mixing burgundy with holy water produces Amazing Grapes.

Not taxing Tips is an insane idea. Unless you are a couple of presidential candidates seeking votes from the service sector.

    The Question:

Who was the fort Catholic Bishop in America. What college did he found?

    The Headline:

--Walmart beats in Revenue, Profit, Growth; Paints Positive Picture for Future; Markets Looking to Open Aroar,

--Decision against Google “Monopoly” Could effectively Chop Up Alphabet Properties; DoJ will be focusing on Android Op System.

--Bermuda Looking out at Approaching Ernesto.

    --Gena Rowlands Dies at 93.

--North Korea to Reopen For Tourism.

I'll tell you what I’m happy about this morning – reading more and more of the resiliency of Ukraine now bringing the battle to Russia and seeing Putin squirm a bit. You know news about the Ukraine struggle faded but the struggle itself hasn't at all. The people have not given up despite the suffering. And I'm with them. Never give up.

I'll tell you what is annoying. A lot of new electrical and digital devices come with odd-shaped plugs that make it impossible to maximize the slots on a power strip. What used to be simple, isn’t.

And by the way, analog operated appliances like dishwashers or clothes driers were much easier operate than the computer panel models with blinking lights. On, off and a few clicks for time. Appliances don’t have ot think unless gtey are getting instructions from Waymo honks.

The current bastardization of the Minimum wage is purely un–American It effectively removes the incentive to succeed from generations.

Hey, North Korea is finding out what third world economies like Rhode Island have learned -- Tourism is an easy way for a quick financial infusion. If you like selling your soul.

Walmart had a great quarter of its revenue. But what the numbers also revealed was that now higher income people are going there because it just makes sense to go somewhere where you are not paying through the nose.

I use a lot of old fashioned cliches, don't I.

Just remember that the excitement about yesterday’s slowing of inflation growth doesn’t mean the 24% to 50% rise in prices over the past several years are going down.

Its back-to-school ferver in retail but somebody observered they are already seeing haystacks and pumpkins in stores readying a butying public for Halloween spending. It is spooky.

The Mandated min wage is essentially the Gov forcing private biz to be their partner in socialism .

The Amazing grapes bit is from comic Frank and Ernie, just in case you are inetrested in a chackle each day.

Below is translation of the garbled Tidlet yesterday. My trusty proofreader must have been in a rush:

I really hate it when Politicians use the lame excuse, ’I Misspoke. Politicians never misspeak. They try to get away with anything they can but often underestimate the intelligence of regular people and get caught with some fabrication. Misspeak is so weak.”

    The Answer:

John Carroll of Baltimore was the Man and Georgetown was the college.

Well, that’s about it for this morning. And I left plenty of time to correct typos before I have to run off.

It is a beautiful day here this morning.

I may be watching the Pats get mauled by the Eagles tonight. Ouch.
