Today's Tids Issue 5,606

Read:

I'd better check the propane levels on my grill tank. It seems I run out of gas while cooking for our every Labor Day mob. It is initially momentarily embarrassing until I quickly realize I have to dig deep into extreme personal creativity to find a solution without being discovered. So, I'll be ready, except that there is no mob this year. Just when I think I’ve figured it out, life changes.

An interesting statistical shift that could come into play this election is the rapid growth of younger potential voters versus an increasingly rapid decline of “Greatest Generation: and “Boomer” voters. For young people, “Progressive” is not a dirty word and they see merits in communist theory. And they spend so much time inside social media closets that they don't see the loss of freedoms among people in Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, China and more.

I'm troubled by the latest contribution from the Tids Punster Laureate: “I tried to post a meme with a carpentry pun that woodwork. I think I nailed it. But I wonder if anyone saw it.” Yikes!

The Question:

Who created the Guinness Book of World Records and Why?

Today is a big day in Rhode Island. It's the day lovers of continuing education receive their course catalogs for the “Circle of Scholars” a truly excellent arm of Salve Regina University designed to serve all of the state.  It's been an immense task each year for thirty years pulling together a broad array of subjects, this Fall Semester totaling 61 diverse subjects – from God to Liberace, the universe to neuroscience explaining thinking, love death and human relationships; From Mary Cassatt to Richard Wagner; politics, economics and global confusion. The director of this operation, the committee driven by her energy are all quite amazing. It's the little things that make a community great. And you don't need politicians to do it.

This is the era of convoluted rational. And it can be dangerous.

Meta’s (Facebook) Zuckerman says he now regrets bowing to the White House pressure to censure covid data during the pandemic. Government censuring is one of the greatest evils a government can propagate upon its citizens.

It snowed in Nevada this August for the first time in 20 years. The battle of hot and cold continues.

Did you know that chocolate is basically a fruit. Hey, I’m a health nut. And a Swiss scientist firm Lindt has reinvented chocolate so that in the future it will be fruitier. That is if you like the taste of pineapple fudge.

One of the more elite groups of sports fans is in NYC the next couple of Weeks for the US Open Tennis Tournament. It will be the place to be seen and for celebrity seekers. And the tennis will be great if it isn't overhyped by the NY media.

The TPL has learned to tell jokes in sign language. He guarantees they've have never been heard before. I need a new TPL.

Well, it’s cutdown day for the NFL. A lot of guys who have left their hearts and soul on the field the past months will be looking for work. But any good coach who has seen that heart will find a way to stash a player with a future somewhere for later. Maybe they can stash them back in colleges and have them paid though NIL.

If Powell's rate cut in September works well the economy could be humming by elections day. Just a thought. Isn't that poetically ironic – socialists could rise to the top of government because of capitalism's success. Komrad Kamala Kissing Kapitialists who Konquored Konfusion.

We need more of NBC weekend Nightly News anchor Jose Diaz-Belart's video montage finale showing regular people doing regular things wonderfully and caringly because there are just so many good people in this great country.

The Answer:

Guinness Book of World Records was the brainchild of Guinness Brewer Managing Director Sir Hugh Baker. (Baker the Brewer. Hah, Sorry for the interruption. Had to say it.) He did it because there was no source of information to solve trivia disputes in his pubs. 74 years ago today, they distributed copies with beer deliveries, and it became as popular as the brew.

No time to toast the end of these Tids with a tip of a glass. Got to go. Love your day E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
